Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES)
NMES may be defined as the application of electrical stimulation of the peripheral nervous system to contract
a muscle either through the direct activation of the motor neurons in the mixed peripheral nerve, or indirectly
through reflex recruitment.
