Introduction
Vetus Automatic change over device (IVPS) switches automati-
cally the available AC power source to the outputs. If more than
one source is available then the source with highest priority is
switched to the output. It gives a reliable double pole switch-
ing. It is lightweight and compact. Please ensure the connected
loads do not exceed 4.5 kVA.

User information
2.1
Aim of the manual
This user's manual provides important information necessary for
safe and correct use of the IVPS. Therefore observe the instruc-
tions to prevent danger to the user!
Read the manual through carefully and observe all information
stated herein to increase the reliability of the installation and
to extend the life span of the IVPS. Let everyone who is going
to use the IVPS read through this manual. Before the IVPS is
switched on for the first time, all chapters of this manual must
have been read through carefully.
2.2
Explanation to the symbols
To guarantee the user with sufficient safety, additional instruc-
tions are given. Sufficient safety during use of the IVPS is only
guaranteed if these are observed. The additional
instructions are indicated as follows:
Tip!
Is a comment that simplifies working with the IVPS if
you observe this tip!
N.B.!
Is a comment that indicates that the IVPS could be
damaged.
Warning!
Is a comment that indicates that the lives of people
could be in direct danger.

For your own safety
3.1
General
Warning!
Highly dangerous currents can arise in the IVPS! The
IVPS may only be opened and repaired by an electri-
cian. Before opening the IVPS, always disconnect it
from all the AC sources.
Tip!
If the safety precautions are not observed during use of
the IVPS, then all forms of guarantee and liability of the
manufacturer/supplier will lapse.

3.2
Use
The IVPS may only be used in technically perfect condition. If
malfunctions occur that can affect the safety of user and ship,
the IVPS must immediately be turned off. For safety reasons,
amendments to the apparatus are prohibited. Repairs (e.g.
replacing the fuse) may only be carried out by persons skilled
in such.
Safety earthing must be observed.

Installation
4.1
Installing
Choose a dry place at considerable distance from a heat
source. High temperatures can negatively affect the capacity of
the apparatus. Therefore never cover the ventilation openings
and keep a space of at least 10cm free around the IVPS. The
apparatus meets the protection level IP 20. Use the drilling jig to
determine the position of the fastening holes and affix the IVPS
to a wall in vertical position with the connections downwards.
Do not drill any extra fastening holes in the metal casing!
The presence of small metal particles in the IVPS can cause
irreparable damage.
Warning!
Use cable with sufficient cross-section to connect the
IVPS. Select a wire cross-section taking into account
the maximum current that can be supplied by the AC
sources. Use a minimum cross-section of 2.5 mm2 (14
AWG)
Warning!
Heavy currents through wiring that is too thin, or resist-
ance caused by bad connections can generate exces-
sive heat and could cause a fire.
Use good quality interconnection components. Use matching
cable terminals and a suitable crimping tool. If a cable terminal
with oversize ring is used, the contact surface will be reduced
substantially, as a result the terminals, due to contact resistance,
can be over-heated.
4.2
Connections
N.B.!
When connecting the cables to IVPS observe the Line,
Neutral and Earth (LNE).
Observe the input connectors mentioned for generator,
shore power and for inverter and connect the cables.
Same is to be followed for connecting the output to the
load.
