4. Conditions for use

3.3 Optimum performance
• Please fi lter cold tap water only.
3.4 Filter fi rst, and then boil
• The BRITA On Tap water fi lter system is designed to
be used only with municipally treated tap water. If an
instruction is received from the authorities that mains
water must be boiled, then BRITA fi ltered water must
also be boiled. When the instruction to boil water is no
longer in force, please clean the BRITA On Tap water
fi lter system thoroughly and insert a new cartridge.
• For certain groups of people (e.g. those with impaired
immunity and babies), it is generally recommended that
tap water should be boiled; this also applies to fi ltered
water.
• Irrespective of the water used, one should use utensils
with stainless steel or kettles with concealed elements.
This is of particular importance to people who are sensi-
tive to nickel.

3.5 Exclusion of liability

• BRITA cannot accept any liability if one does not follow
the given instructions of use.

Conditions for use
4.1 When does the BRITA On Tap fi lter not work?
The BRITA On Tap fi lter is not intended to be connected
to a low-pressure water heater; it is an external contact
system and its internal receptacle will not support the
pressure of the supply pipe.
The following characteristics will help you determine
whether your equipment is a low-pressure water heater:

• A low-pressure water heater is usually installed immedi-
ately next to the sink or underneath it.
• Low-pressure taps are fi tted with 3 connections (open
system).
• When the supply of hot water has been used (between
5 and 10 litres), only cold water will come out of the tap.
4.2 When does the BRITA On Tap fi lter work?
The BRITA On Tap water fi lter can be easily connected to
the following hot water supplies:
• Central hot water supply:
As a general rule, the central supply of hot water in a
house is connected to the central heating system. This
is usually located in the cellar, loft or in a cupboard.
• Instant water heaters:
Instant water heaters (pressurized systems) are installed
in pressurized pipes and must be able to withstand
the pressure applied. This type of water heater often
supplies hot water to several parts of the house (e.g.
the kitchen and bathroom). In contrast to the traditional
system, the instant water heater supplies hot water
within a few seconds and in an unlimited quantity.
• Large volume water heater (> 50 litres):
Large volume water heaters (> 50 litres) operate under
pressure. In most cases, these water heaters supply hot
water to several parts of the house (e.g. the kitchen and
bathroom).
