Installation instructions:

1.) Remove boot mat and drill-hole stickers/stoppers.
Disassemble the right underbody panelling, the rear muffler of the exhaust system and the heat
protection plate.
2.) Remove the fastening screw of the bumper in the spare wheel well. Remove the fastening
schackles of the wheel sensor wire lanes on the right and left.
3.) Insert the retaining bolts M12 at "e" in the body for fastening the crossbar.
Cut out the bumper according to the diagram.
4.) At "a", "b", "c", put the distance bushes 7 and 8 from the boot in the longitudinal beam. Lay the
reinforcements 5 and 6 in the boot over the longitudinal beam.
5.) At "b", push the screws M12x100 with the washers 13x24x2.5 through the reinforcement 5 or 6 and
the bushes 7. At "c", push the screw M12x110 with the washer 13x24x2.5 through the
reinforcement 6 and the bush 8.
6.) Place the crossbar 1 under the vehicle and attach loosely at "e" using the screws M12x30, washers
13x24x2.5 and already inserted retaining bolts.
7.) Place the braces 3 and 4 under the longitudinal beam and attach loosely at "d" using the screws
M10x35, washers 13x24x2.5 and nuts M10.
8.) At "b", hold the washers 12.5x30x3 between the longitudinal beam and the braces 3 and 4 and
attach loosely with the already inserted screws M12x100, washers 13x24x2.5 and nuts M12.
9.) Using the already inserted screw M12x110 as well as nut M12 and washer 13x24x2.5, loosely
attach the brace 4 at "c".
10.) At "a", insert the countersunk head screws M12x100 through the braces 3 and 4, the distance
bushes 7 and the reinforcements 5 and 6 and attach loosely with the washer 13x24x2.5 and nut
M12.
11.) Align the towing hitch and tighten all screws and nuts.
Torque for M12 at "a", "b", "c", "e"
Torque for M10 at "d"
12.) Refasten the heat protection plate at "f" using the pan-head tapping screws 4.8x32, washer
5.3x15x1.2 and the available screws.
Remount all disassembled parts in or on the vehicle.
Attention: Vehicles of the first manufacturing series have their "a" drill-holes too far to the front, and
have to be re-drilled. To do this, place the reinforcement 6 in the boot, and align according to
position "b" and "c". Drill ø13 mm through both walls of the longitudinal beam at "a". Now
drill a hole in the boot to ø26 mm. Lay the reinforcement 5 on the left according to position
"b" in the boot. Space the drill-holes "a" 997.5 mm apart. Repeat the drilling work on the left
at "a" as on the right at "a".
65 Nm (Property class 8.8)
40 Nm (Property class 8.8)
