5.5 Finishing
– On bladder accumulators, close the gas
valve insert (E) in the hydraulic accumulator
by rotating the spindle (A) anti-clockwise.
– On piston and diaphragm accumulators,
close the allen screw (P) in the hydraulic
accumulator by rotating the spindle (A)
clockwise.
– Close the nitrogen bottle.
– Reduce pressure in the pressure reducing
valve, charging hose and FPU‑1 via the
release valve (B) of the FPU‑1.
– Remove the charging hose from the FPU‑1.
– Loosen the cap nut (D) and remove the
FPU‑1 from the accumulator.
– On bladder accumulators, unscrew adapter
A3 and insert the O‑ring (O) again. Check
the tightness of the gas valve using leak
detection spray.
Screw and firmly tighten the seal cap (H)
onto the accumulator gas valve (30 Nm).
Manually screw on protection cap (S).
EN
– On piston and diaphragm accumulators,
firmly tighten the allen screw (P) with an
allen key SW6, DIN ISO2936 (20 Nm).
Check the tightness of the allen screw using
leak detection spray.
Screw and firmly tighten the seal cap (S) on
to the allen screw (20 Nm).
6. Working with the FPU-2
NOTICE
Safety precautions according to section 4.2
must be observed.
The following works refer to the testing and
setting of the accumulator pre‑charge pressure
(p
) with the FPU‑2.

6.1 Preparation
NOTICE
Adapter A3H must only be used with the
FPU‑2.
– On bladder accumulators, unscrew
protection cap (S) and seal cap (H) and
remove O‑ring (O). Slightly unscrew the
adjusting screw of adapter A3H and screw
adapter A3H on to the accumulator gas
valve.
– On piston and diaphragm accumulators
loosen the allen screw (P) with the spindle
(A).
– Manually screw FPU‑2 cap nut (D) on to
adapter A3H on the bladder accumulator or
on to the accumulator gas valve of the piston
or diaphragm accumulators.
– Rotate charging device so that the pressure
gauge is in a good position for taking
readings.
6.2 Testing
NOTICE
Before inspection, the charge hose must be
connected gas‑tight with the FPU‑2 and the
pressure-increase system.
– Connect the charging hose to the pressure
increase system with the high‑pressure
connection 9/16‑18UNF.
– Firmly close the unloading valve (B) on
FPU‑2.
– On bladder accumulators, open the gas
valve insert (E) in the accumulator by
rotating the spindle (A) clockwise until the
indicator on the pressure gauges moves.
– On piston and diaphragm accumulators,
open the allen screw (P) in the accumulator
by rotating the spindle (A) anti-clockwise
until the indicator of the pressure gauge
moves.
– The pressure gauge now displays the
pre‑charge pressure (p
accumulator.
The gas‑tight connection between FPU‑2
and the pressure increase system prevents
nitrogen from escaping.
