OPERATING THE UNIT
The Smartmix is switched on with the On/Off-switch
on the bottom of the unit. The front panel of this
unit includes a two-line LC display (A), the "Enter"
button (B), the multifunctional rotary knob (C) and
the Start/Stop button (D). All the Smartmix pro-
grammes can be operated with these controls. This
unit is ready for use immediately after switching on.
The mixing programme used last is displayed.

LANGUAGE
The Smartmix includes a multilingual menu (German,
English, French, Italian and Spanish). Should you pre-
fer a different language to that which is set, switch
the unit off, press the "Enter" button (B) and
"Start/Stop" button (D) simultaneously and switch
the unit on again. The unit is then in its program-
ming mode. Rotate the multi-functional knob (C) to
set your preferred language and confirm your selec-
tion with the "Enter" button. The unit is then ready
for use.
MIXING
Select the correct size of mixing beaker and prepare
the material for mixing. If the "Premixing" stage is
switched on (refer to the section on "Storing a
mixing programme"), the material does not have to
be premixed in advance. Wipe the top edge of the
mixing vessel clean and fit the lid. The multifunctio-
nal knob (C) can be turned to select the programme
- from programme 1 (PO1) to programme 20 (P20).
Please note: You can also use the Smartmix without
storing a special mixing programme in advance.
Simply press the "Enter" button (B), set the desired
mixing time with the multifunctional knob (C) and
press "Enter" again to store it. Press the "Enter"
button again to start the unit. Press the Start/Stop
button (D) to start mixing and raise the mixing bea-
ker onto the suction nozzle. After only a few
seconds, the suction holds the vessel in place. Once
full vacuum has been attained, mixing commences
automatically. The mixing time is counted backwards

on the LC display. An alarm can be heard once
mixing has been completed.
During mixing, the vacuum pump sucks the beaker
onto the unit firmly. Once mixing has been comple-
ted, press the Start/Stop button again to switch off
the vacuum pump. Please hold the mixing beaker
firmly at this stage to prevent it falling off the unit
once the vacuum is released.
STORING MIXING PROGRAMMES
The Smartmix is operated at three levels. The
"Enter" button (B) should be pressed to switch from
level to level. The settings are adjusted with the mul-
tifunctional knob (C).
MENU
1. Turn the multifunctional rotary knob (C), refer-
red to as the "MRK" hereafter) to the next
vacant storage location or to where an adjust-
ment is required.
2. Press the "Enter" button (B). You are now at
level 2 and can turn the MRK (C) to adjust the
mixing time.
3. Press the "Enter" button (B).
4. Should you wish to use the standard settings for
your mixing programme, press the "Enter" but-
ton (B) again. The unit is then ready for use
(refer to the "Mixing" section for further instruc-
tions).
5. Should you wish to adjust your mixing program-
me exactly, move the selection arrow by turning
the MRK (C) to "Mixing settings" and press the
"Enter" button (B).
6. You are now at level 3. Turn the MRK (C) until
you have reached the desired speed and press
the "Enter" button (B).
