3.5. Kickback and drilling strategy
The kickback is a violent reaction of the hammer in the direction opposite to the
movement, created by the torque and inertia of the rotating parts. Maintain a good
posture, hold the hammer firmly and use the auxiliary handle whenever you use it. Do
not use the hammer by holding it with one hand. Do not apply excessive pressure to the
power tool when doing the work; besides increasing the wear of the drills, tips or chisels
and increase the kickback, this action does not improve the efficiency of the work.
Do not use the locking button during drilling operations, because if the drill bit gets
stuck, a serious accident could occur. The lock button should only be used for auxiliary
activities.
The kickback runs more intensively when using large diametre drills and/or when
drilling ductile materials. In case it is necessary to drill large diametres, do it
progressively, starting with drills of smaller diametre. In addition to reducing the
kickback, this sequence is faster and more efficient than making a large diametre drill
directly.
