3. INTRODUCTION

The DS 313, DS 313/1N, and DS 313/WT are ceiling speakers designed for flush-mount installation in
false ceilings or on panels. The DS 313 and DS 313/1N models can be connected to constant impedance
audio lines (e.g. 4 ohm); the DS 313/WT incorporates a line transformer which makes it possible to connect
this model to constant voltage lines at 50 V or 100 V, with the possibility to select the output power level.

4. INSTALLATION

WARNING
• Speaker installation must only be carried out by qualified personnel in full respect for the
safety standards.
• Speaker installation must be secure. Check to make sure that the support surface (e.g. false ceiling,
etc.) has the necessary mechanical characteristics to support the weight of the speaker without the dan-
ger of it falling and causing damage to persons or things.
• Choose the speaker position keeping in mind that when installation is completed, the rear part of the
speaker must not be normally accessible.
The speaker has been designed for flush-mount installation using either clips or screws. Before instal-
ling the speaker, make sure that there is sufficient space behind the panel or false ceiling to house
the speaker.

INSTALLATION USING CLIPS

This method of installation is particularly suitable for false ceilings.
1. Drill a hole in the false ceiling at the point chosen for installation. The diameter of the hole depends on
the thickness of the false ceiling, as shown in the table below.

The table below shows the free space needed in depth with respect to the surface holding the front
plate of the speaker.

2. Rotate the two attachment clips toward the rear part of the speaker and insert them in the hole made,
as shown in Figure 1 on page 32.
3. Press the speaker at point A (Fig. 1) to insert it partially into the hold made, as indicated in Figure 2 on
page 32.
4. Press the speaker at point B (Fig. 2) to insert it completely into the hold, securing it in the false ceiling
as shown in Figure 3 on page 32.
5. Make the electrical connections as described in the following section.
