Engine Cooling

extremelydusty,dirty conditions),removethe blower
housingand othercoolingshrouds,Cleanthe cooling
fins and externalsurfacesas necessary,Makesurethe
coolingshroudsare properlyreinstalled,
Carburetor
In compliancewith governmentemissionstandards,the
carburetoris calibratedto deliverthecorrectfuel-to-air
mixtureto the engine underall operatingconditions.
Thehigh speedmixtureis set at the factoryand cannot
be adjusted.
If enginetroublesare experienced that appearto be fuel
systemrelated,checkthe followingareas:
• Makesurethe fuel tank is filledwith clean, fresh
gasoline.Makesurethefuel tank vent is not blocked.
• Makesurethe in-line fuelfilter is cleanand unob-
structed.Replacethefilter if necessary.
• Makesurethe air cleanerelementis cleanand all air
cleanerelementcomponents are fastenedsecurely.
If after checkingthe aboveitemsthe engineis hard to
start, runsroughly,stalls,or lackspower,contactyour
CubCadetdealer to havethecarburetorand fuel pump
inspected.
Fuel Line
Changethe fuel linefilter after every 100 hoursof
operation,Thefuel filter is locatedon the left sideof the
enginein thefuel line, Notethe orientationof the filter to
installthe newfilter correctly,
° Placea containerbelowthefilter to catch anyspilled
gasolineand carefullyclampthe fuel lines,
° Loosenthe hoseclampsto removeand replacethe
filter,

Lubrication
Thesteeringarms,pivot shafts,and axles must be
lubricatedif everthe steeringeffort increases, o r after
every25 hourof operation.Lubricateusinga pressure
greasegun and CubCadet251HEP grease,or an
equivalentNo. 2 multipurpose lithium grease.
° Applygreasethroughthe lubefitting on the RH and
LH steeringarms whichare locatedat rearwardend of
the two steeringdrag links.See Figure20.

Locatethe lube fittingsfor the pivot shaftand axleon

Oncea year,or if a tight spot is experienced whenturning
the steeringwheel, removethe steeringgear coveron
eachend of the pivot bar and cleanthe two steering
gears,
• Frombeneaththe coverbase plateon eachend of the
pivot bar,removethe threehex screwssecuringthe
steeringgearcover.Removethe coversand cleanthe
gears, It is not necessaryto lubricatethe gears,Refer
to Figure20,
• Insertthe tabof the LHsteeringgear coverintothe
squarehole in the LH baseplate,positionthe cover,
and securewith the threehexscrews,Donot over
tighten,Repeatto install thecover on the RH side,
Pivot Bar adjustment
If excessiveplayis experiencedin the steeringwheel,
checkthe pivotbar for forward/rearward movement,
1, Raisethe front of the tractorand set it on jack stands,
so the frontwheelsare suspended abovethe ground,
2, Graspingthe endsof the pivotbar,attemptto move
eachend of the axle forwardand rearwardtocheck
for sideplay,Thereshouldbe minimalor no side play,
