Battery
Thebatteryis sealedand is maintenance-free, Acid
levelscannotbe checked,
• Alwayskeepthe batterycables and terminalsclean
and freeof corrosivebuild-up,
• After cleaningthe batteryand terminals,apply a light
coat of petroleum jelly or greaseto bothterminals.
• Alwayskeepthe rubberboot positionedoverthe
positiveterminalto preventshorting.
IMPORTANT: If removing thebatteryfor anyreason,
disconnect t he NEGATIVE (Black)wirefromit's terminal
FIRST,followed by thePOSITIVE (Red)wire,When
re-installing the battery, a lwaysconnectthe POSITIVE
(Red)wire its terminal f irst, followed by the NEGATIVE
(Black)wire, Becertainthat thewiresare connected to
thecorrectterminals;reversing them couldchangethe
polarityand resultin damageto yourengine'salternating
system.
Charging
If the tractorhas not beenput into usefor an extended
periodof time,chargethe batterywith an automotive-
type 12-volt c hargerfor a minimumof one hour at six
amps.

Jump Starting

IMPORTANT: N everjump yourtractor'sdead battery
with the batteryof a runningvehicle,
1, Connectend of one jumpercableto the positive
terminalof the good battery,thenthe otherend to
the positiveterminalof the deadbattery,
2. Connectthe otherjumpercableto the negative
terminalof the good battery,thento the frame of the
unit with the dead battery.

Cleaning
the Battery
Cleanthe batteryby removingit fromthe tractorand
washingwith a bakingsodaand watersolution,If neces-
sary,scrapethe batteryterminalswith a wire brushto
removedeposits,Coat terminalsand exposedwiringwith
greaseor petroleum jelly to preventcorrosion,

• undercharging

Cutting Deck Removal
Toremovethe cuttingdeck, proceedas follows:
1, Disengagethe PTO(BladeEngage)and engagethe
parkingbrake,
2, Placethedeck gaugewheels in their highestsetting
(lowestdeck setting),
3. Lowerthe deck by movingthedeck lift leverintothe
bottomnotchon the rightfender.
4. Lookingat the cuttingdeck fromthe left sideof the
tractor,locate thedeck supportpin on the rearleft
sideof thedeck, See Figure22,

5. Pull thedeck supportpin outwardto releasethe deck
from thedeck lift arm.
6. Moveto the rightside of the tractorand pull the deck
supportpin outwardto releasethe deck from the RH
lift arm.
