CHARGING
Be sure to follow the rules listed below while charging the battery. Failure to do so
•
may cause the battery to get hot, rupture or ignite and cause serious damage or
injury.
Turn off the light while charging. This allows the battery to reach the threshold
•
voltage unhindered and reflects the correct saturation current responsible to
terminate the battery charge cycle.
Charge at a moderate temperature, do not charge below freezing.
•
Discontinue using charger and/or battery if the battery gets excessively warm.
•
Do not overheat or overcharg, Li-ion batteries may suffer thermal runaway and cell
•
rupture. In extreme cases this can lead to combustion.
To reduce these risks, Lithium-ion battery packs contain fail-safe circuitry that shuts
•
down the battery when its voltage is outside the safe range of 3–4.2 V per cell.
Several partial discharges with frequent recharges are better for lithium-ion battery
•
life than one deep charge.
Keep the lithium-ion battery cool. Avoid a hot car. For prolonged storage, keep the
•
battery at a 40% charge level and in a cool environment.

Fully charge the Nightstick before the first use or if the battery is new or has been unused
for several months. The charge time for maximum capacity is approximately 4 hours.
Daily Use
Use only the supplied Nightstick charge platform, battery and AC or DC adapter.
For best performance, charge the Nightstick when the flashlight beam starts to dim.
Connect the AC power adapter to the charging platform. The LED indicator will light
•
with a solid green and flashing red pattern.
With the flashlight facing forward, slide the Nightstick into the charging platform until
•
the contacts snap into place.
The indicator changes to constant red indicating the Nightstick is properly inserted
•
into the charging platform and charging. The light remains red until the battery is fully
charged. At full charge, the light turns green. The total time to full charge varies
depending on the remaining charge in the battery pack.
To confirm a full charge, keep the Nightstick in the charger and turn it on. The
•
charging indicator changes to red. Turn off the Nightstick. If the Nightstick is fully
charged the light turns green. If not, it remains red until full charge is completed and
the light turns green. The Nightstick can now be removed for the charger.
