b. Open and close the valve to be sure it works prop-
erly.
c. Inspect the pressure gauge:
The lens must not be cracked or broken.
The gauge face must be visible without distortion.
The gauge needle must operate.
5. Inspect the cylinder at
least monthly or before
each use, to be sure it
is FULL (2216 or 3000
psi on the pressure
gauge).
Hood Packing Instructions for TransAire Apparatus
1. Lay the hood flat and
fold in thirds length-
wise.
2. Fold the top third of
the hood over.).
3. Put the hood inlet assembly outside of the hood.

DESCRIPTION
4. Place the hood into the
pouch on the carrier by
first inserting the tube
into the pouch, fol-
lowed by the folded
hood. Leave the hood
inlet assembly
exposed.
Reassembling the Escape Hood:
1. Check to be sure there
is an O-ring in the reg-
ulator inlet. Thread the
pressure regulator on
to the cylinder valve
and tighten with a suit-
able wrench.
2. Place a full air cylinder in the carrier and tie the open-
ing closed around the cylinder neck.
3. Check to be sure there is an O-ring on the hood hose
nipple.
4. Thread the hose nut on
the hood inlet and
hand-tighten only.
5. Install the hood hose and hood in the pocket. Close
the hook-and-loop strip.
6. Place the apparatus in its storage location, ready for
use.
Component Inspection (At Least Monthly)
1. Check the cylinder. It must be full (gauge reads 2216
or 3000 psi).
2. Remove the hood and hose. Check for holes, cuts, or
other damage.
3. Crack the cylinder valve for a few seconds to make
sure air flows to the hood. Close the valve tightly.
4. Fold the hood and place it and the hose into the
pocket. Close the hook-and-loop strip on the pocket.
