Start the engine and check that it is running at its idle
speed. Turn on the stroboscopic function lamp p by
pressing the key t. Direct the flashing lamp onto the
flywheel window by pressing the trigger f. Turn the
knob g to make the flywheel mark line up with the 0°
mark on the housing. Release the trigger f to hold the
figure in the display for 10 seconds. Read the initial
timing figure on the display i and compare it with the
manufacturer's figure.
A4) To measure DC voltage
clip on the red wire k to the item to be checked and
read the value on the display o.
A5) Storage. Press and release the trigger f to hold
the values shown on the displays u, i and o for 10
seconds.

Turn on the probe function lamp q, by pressing the key
t. Light the negative probe lamp s by pressing key
y. Connection and testing is the same as for chapter
«B».
D) To measure peak voltage : disconnect the TDC
probe connector on the vehicle. Connect one terminal to
ground using the wire e with 2 crocodile clips. Connect
the clip on wire k to the other terminal. Light the
stroboscopic function lamp p by pressing key t.
Operate the starter motor for 5 to 10 seconds and read
the probe output signal value on the display o. Com-
pare it with the manufacturer's figure. If nothing appears
on the display check the wiring and the probe.
