1. Safety instructions
It is absolutely necessary to study the operating manual
before starting the machine.
NOVUS electric stapling guns are designed for a connec‑
tion to 230 volts a.c., 50 Hz. A mains fuse of at least 10
amps medium‑slow is adequate. The machines have pro‑
tected insulation corresponding to protection class II .
They are designed for brief operation (see technical data).
For your own safety and to avoid unnecessary wear of the
equipment, you are recommended to let them cool down
for the times stipulated!
Before starting work do not fail to check the proper function
of the safety and release switch as well as the tightness of
nuts, screws and bolts. The machines are activated by
pressing down the trigger. Some machines are equipped
with an additional safety device (see operating instructions).
Modifications to the machines such as removal or block‑
ing of parts are contrary to regulations. The machine must
never be pointed at yourself or at any other person, nor
must it ever be triggered / fired into the air.
Staples or nails leaving the nose are dangerous and may
cause injuries. For further protection use safety precau‑
tions, for example eye protectors or ear plugs.
Keep stapling guns away from children.
Protect the product against damp.
For maintenance to the machine, such as changing the
front plate or magazine, clearance of faults caused by
jammed staples/ nails or any visible damage to the prod‑
uct or mains cable, ALWAYS disconnect mains plug.
Never use the cable to carry the apparatus or to pull out
the mains plug.
Protect the cable from sharp edges in order to avoid a
short circuit and fire risk.
All defective or non‑working machines should be repaired
only by fully trained technicians.
2. NOVUS staples
The basic equipment is designed for the use of NOVUS
staples 53/8‑18 mm and NOVUS nails J 19 (see I). When
using the NOVUS flat wire staples 53F/8‑12mm, 53F/14D‑
18D or the staples 4/12‑18 mm you always have to change
the front plate (see II and III).

3. Selection of suitable front plate for
staples/nails and adjustment of
staple magazine
1. Insertion of front plate (see IV).
The symbol of staple/nail embossed on the front plate
(see I, II or III) must correspond to the selected type of
staple or nail. For changing the front plate (7) pull out
staple magazine (2), loosen the toggle type fastener (6)
put desired plate on the channel and secure.
2. Adjustment of staple magazine
The symbol of the staple or nail shown in the inspection
window at the lower side of the staple magazine must
correspond to the selected staple/nail (see V). Pull out
staple magazine until stop, slightly lift adjusting plate,
set staple/nail symbol by moving adjusting plate to the
right or to the left, secure adjusting plate and repush
magazine until lock.
4. Loading of staple magazine
This machine is loaded from below. Press magazine
lock (3)and pull out magazine (2) until stop.
a) Insert NOVUS staples into the magazine guide with top
to bottom (see VI).
b) Insert NOVUS nails by placing them with the head into
the groove on the bottom of the magazine guide. The
correct side can be recognized by the recessed nail
guide in the front plate (7) . Shut magazine and secure
magazine lock.
5. Electronic control of impacting force
The control wheel (4) below the supply line is used for
the stepless control of impacting force. The impacting
force increases with increasing force normal to chord. This
ensures that the correct driving‑in force can be adjusted,
in dependence on the hardness of the material for stapling
(hard or soft wood) and the length of the stapling means
(staples or nails)
