6. MEDIA REMOVAL

To remove the filtration media, proceed as follows:
1. With the pump stopped, set the valves in position "Closed" (see point 5.1.5 or 5.2.5).
2. Ensure there is an open inlet of air into the filter (by opening the lid, the ball valve of the lid or by having a
tri-functional air relief valve).
3. Empty de filter from water through the lower water drain (see water drain in Fig. 1).
In the event of performing the emptying in a manual way, it can be done either through the sand drain (see Fig.1),
through the top manhole of the filter, or through the side manhole (if the filter has this option). Then:
4. Remove the lid of the sand drain, and the lids of the top and the side manhole, if proceeds.
5. Move the sand from the inside of the filter to facilitate its flow through the sand drain. It always can be
emptied directly through the top and/or the side manholes (if the filter has this option).
If the empty is going to be done by mechanical means, the owner's guide of the equipment or machine to be used
must be followed.
6. To refill the filter, the start-up instructions indicated in this manual must be followed, by previously ensuring
the water drain and the sand drain are totally closed and sealed.
