TP-7, TP-8 OPERATION
Depress the sealed "ON" button on the case to read measured temperature on the
display. The instrument will shut off within 2 minutes.
BACKLIGHT
When the instrument is operating in night conditions a photocell will detect this
situation and permit the backlight to function.
BATTERY CHECK
ThermoProbe models TP-7 and TP-8 will indicate a flashing readout of "Lo" in the
display. Replace battery if this occurs in order to prevent inaccurate readings.
ERROR CODES
Two error codes have been established to provide the user information in case a
maintenance situation has occurred.
E1 - Short Circuit or Under Range
E1 indicates one of two situations exists. In most cases, the probe circuit has been
shorted; usually meaning the cable has been smashed at some point, OR E1
indicates a below range reading. The temperature being gauged is below the
measurable specified range.
E2 indicates two possible situations. The first and most likely is that the probe
circuit has a discontinuity. This may occur as a result of a cut cable, bad termi-
nation at the circuit board or damaged sensor. Check the cable terminal making
sure the wires are correctly inserted into the connector on the board. Secondly,
"E2" represents an over range reading, meaning the temperature at the sensor has
risen above the measurable specified limit of the unit.

TP-7, 8 REPLACING BATTERY
Move into non-hazardous area.
For TP-8 Model remove the battery cover and remove battery.
For TP-7 Model remove faceplate screws and extract the circuit board/faceplate
assembly on the TP-7. Remove battery fastened to circuit board.
Mount the new battery in correct position with respect to (+) (-) terminal polarity.
Reinstall cover or assembly.
TP-7, 8 CALIBRATION PROCEDURE
Refer to API 7 for Calibration Verification Procedures. An authorized ThermoProbe
distributor or service facility should perform calibration. For calibration instruc-
tions go to www.thermoprobe.net
TP-7, 8 REPAIRS & MAINTENANCE
If servicing is needed, contact ThermoProbe for an authorized ThermoProbe
distributor or service facility.
TP-7, 8 MEASURING PROCEDURES
See www.thermoprobe.net for video on proper use of this instrument, or contact
