Electrical safety

The electric motor has been designed for one voltage only. Always check
that the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
Mains plug replacement (U.K. & Ireland only)
• Should your mains plug need replacing and you are competent to do
this, proceed as instructed below. If you are in doubt, contact an
authorized D
WALT repair agent or a qualified electrician.
E
• Disconnect the plug from the supply.
• Cut off the plug and dispose of it safely; a plug with bared copper
conductors is dangerous if engaged in a live socket outlet.
• Only fit 13 Amperes BS1363A approved plugs fitted with the correctly
rated fuse (1).
• The cable wire colours, or a letter, will be marked at the connection
points of most good quality plugs. Attach the wires to their respective
points in the plug (see below). Brown is for Live (L) (2), blue is for
Neutral (N) (4) and green yellow is for Earth (E).
• Before replacing the top cover of the mains plug ensure that the cable
restraint (3) is holding the outer sheath of the cable firmly and that the
two leads are correctly fixed at the terminal screws.
Never use a light socket.
Never connect the live (L) or neutral (N) wires to the earth pin
marked E or
.
For 115 V units with a power rating exceeding 1500 W, we recommend to
fit a plug to BS4343 standard.
Using an extension cable
If an extension cable is required, use an approved extension cable suitable
for the power input of this tool (see technical data). The minimum
2
conductor size is 1.5 mm
. When using a cable reel, always unwind the
cable completely.

Assembly and adjustment

Prior to assembly and adjustment always unplug the tool.
Bench mounting (fig. B)
• Holes (6) are provided in all four feet to facilitate bench mounting.
Two different sized holes are provided to accommodate different sizes
of bolts. Use either hole; it is not necessary to use both. Always mount
your machine firmly to prevent movement. To enhance the portability,
the tool can be mounted to a piece of 12.5 mm or thicker plywood
which can then be clamped to your work support or moved to other
job sites and reclamped.
• When mounting your machine to a piece of plywood, make sure that
the mounting screws do not protrude from the bottom of the wood.
The plywood must sit flush on the work support.
• To prevent binding and inaccuracy, be sure the mounting surface is not
warped or otherwise uneven.
The machine must be level and stable at all times.
Table extensions (fig. C1 & C2)
• Fold down the table extensions (5) and (10) (fig. C1).
• Both tables must be level with the main table.
• To check, turn the depth adjustment handle (3) all the way up.
• Place a level (16) over the extension tables and the main table (17).
• Press the edge of the table extensions down to remove any play.
• If adjustment is required, proceed as follows:
• Slacken the nuts (18) and adjust the bolts (19) until the tables are level
(fig. C2).
Depth adjustment (fig. A2, D1 - D5)
Your DW733 is equipped with a high precision depth adjustment system
including a depth adjustment scale (8) (fig. D3), a material removal scale (9)
(fig. D4), a fine adjuster and a depth stop (14) (fig. A2).
• Unlock the head lock lever (2) (fig. D3) by pulling it up.
• Pull the depth adjustment (3) handle up (fig. D1). One turn corresponds
to a change in cutting depth of approx. 1.5 mm.
- Turn clockwise to decrease the cutting depth (fig. D2).
- Turn counterclockwise to increase the cutting depth.
