Unstable Measurements
The most probable cause of unstable measurements in a new installation is that the probe is placed
over a diffuser! If the probe has worked well for a long time renovate it. Instability can also be caused
by the probe being not completely filed with electrolyte, in which case renovation is indicated.
To check cables and connections start by checking visually. Check the cables, open any junction
boxes and check that they are completely dry. You can switch the probe under investigation, with
one that you know is in order, at the junction box nearest the probe. If the measurement is now OK
renovate the probe under investigation. If there is still a fault, connect the good probe directly to the
equipment terminals. The fault will probably now disappear, indicating a fault in the wiring.
If the dissolved oxygen value in a tank with oxygen dosing oscillates, i.e. swings between two values
at regular intervals, the dosing settings probably need adjusting. This can also be caused by poor
mixing of water in the tank or by unfortunate placing of the probe.

Spare Parts

Spares for several years' use are supplied with the probe. Further spares can be ordered as kits or
in larger quantities. If you have many measurements you can keep a probe as spare. A ready-to-
use probe can be stored for several years if it is stored in a cool place. Check that a spare probe is
completely filled with electrolyte before taking it into use. If you shake the probe you will be able to
hear if it is completely filled. Renovate it if it is not filled. Note that if you open the probe you must
replace the membrane. A spare probe cap fitted with membrane enables a fast probe renovation.
After about 10 years' use new anodes may be needed.
