7 Installing the New Communication Assembly
1. Insert the new communication assembly in the Connection Unit.
2. Tighten the three screws of the communication
assembly using a Torx screwdriver (TX 20).
Tighten the two outer screws first (Torque:
2.3 Nm ± 0.3 Nm (20.35 in-lb ± 2.65 in-lb)).
Then tighten the center screw (Torque: 3.5 Nm ±
0.5 Nm (30.98 in-lb ± 4.43 in-lb)).
3. Insert the ribbon cable plug connecting the
communication assembly to the Power Unit into
the jack on the communication assembly.
4. Insert all plugs into the respective sockets of the communication assembly.
5. If necessary, install the communication modules (see the manual of the communication
module).
6. Commission the inverter (see inverter manual).
7. Affix the supplied type label over the type label
on the right-hand side of the Connection Unit.
Observe that the Connection Unit is issued with
a new serial number due to the replacement of
the communication assembly. The new serial
number can be found on the new type label.
8. If the inverter is registered in Sunny Portal, replace the inverter in Sunny Portal (see installation
manual "Replacement of SMA Devices in Systems with Communication Products" at
www.SMA-Solar.com).
9. If necessary, reconfigure the communication modules. For this, start the installation wizard via
the user interface of the inverter (see manual of the inverter).
