WIRING GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. NOTICE: For installation only by a qualified electrician in accordance with
the National Electrical Code, local codes and the instructions provided on
this document.
2. CAUTION: RISKS OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK. More than one disconnect
switch may be required to de-energize the connected equipment before
servicing. Disconnect all power supplies to this disconnect switch before
removing cover and exposing interior.
3. Suitable for use on circuits capable of delivering not more than (see chart
below for cat. no. and application) RMS symmetrical amperes, 600 VAC
maximum.
Cat No.
PS30SS (AX)
PS60SS(AX)
PS100SS(AX)
4. NOTICE: Separate over-current protection must be provided in accor-
dance with National Electrical Code, article 220 or Canadian Electrical
Code, section B, as appropriate.
5. This enclosure includes a provision for locking the switch handle in the
"OFF" position. This feature accepts up to a 5/16 inch (8 mm) diameter pad-
lock shackle. This lockout feature is designed to isolate power from the con-
nected equipment in order to comply with OSHA lockout/tagout regulation
29 CFR part 1910.147. This feature DOES NOT isolate power supplied to
this disconnect switch during internal servicing of this disconnect switch.
6. This disconnect switch must NOT be used as a
junction box for feed-thru connections.
7. The switch in this device was available with or
without a "pre-break" auxiliary contact. If the
device was purchased with an auxiliary contact,
the auxiliary contact's rating is 600VAC, 10
amps. The pre-break feature allows the auxiliary
contact to open slightly prior to the main con-
tacts opening. This is useful for signaling computer controlled equipment that
power will be dis-connected. The auxiliary contact can be wired with one nor-
mally opened or one normally closed contact, (see diagram at right for wiring).
8. Consult Pass & Seymour/Legrand distributor for auxiliary contact availability.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Loosen (do not remove) four (4) enclosure cover screws and lift off cover.
2. Remove feet and screws from poly bag and mount the
feet to the device in the desired position using the
screws provided. Torque screws according to chart
below. (See figure 1 for mounting dimensions using
attached mounting feet).

NOTE: Device must always be mounted using mount-
ing feet extended. DO NOT drill mounting holes
through enclosure. Mounting feet will accept up to 3/8"
dia. screws (not provided). Device must be mounted
with end of ground plate reading "TOP" in upward direction.

3. Drill or punch appropriate hole size (see chart below) at the desired con-
duit entry location. Drill centers are provided at the top, bottom and inside
the back of the enclosure.
NOTE: Use only listed/certified conduit hubs rated for Type 4X and 12K
applications.
NOTE: Back feed is NOT permitted in Type 12K applications. Back feed
IS permitted in Type 4X applications.

NOTE: If 1-1/4" conduit hub is being used for 60A or 100A applications,
grounding plate must first be removed by unscrewing from inside
back of enclosure and the three break-out tabs removed from each
opening that corresponds with the conduit entry locations designated
for the installation (see figure 2).
4. Install conduit hub (not provided) with sealing ring between hub and enclo-
sure. Tighten conduit nut securely to ensure watertight seal and ground
connection.
5. Mount disconnect switch as intended on equipment, wall or other location
after pre-drilling for screws per selected pattern table dimensions.
6. Installing conduit directly above the switch is not recommended in applica-
tions where condensation can occur in the conduit. When using top feed
entrance, drip loops must always be formed as illustrated in figures 3 and 4.
WIRING INSTRUCTIONS
Wire size may vary with application. Select conductors in accordance with
ampacity table 310-16 of the National Electrical Code or Table 2 of the
Canadian Electrical Code.
1. CAUTION: Use copper conductors only.
2. Terminals will accept wire sizes listed in Table 1 below.
3. Cleanly cut and strip 1/2" (13mm) of insulation from end of cable. DO NOT
TIN CONDUCTORS.
4. Connected equipment electrical rating must not exceed the rating of the
device.
5. Select the correct wiring diagram from wiring diagram chart and wire switch
as illustrated, making sure to provide condensation drip loop as shown in
figures 3 and 4. Insert stripped cables fully into terminal openings, tighten
terminal screws per Table 1 below.
6. With switch handle in "OFF" position, replace enclosure cover being sure
O-ring is seated properly in groove provided around cover. Tighten enclo-
