SETUP
Two Cassette sizes (0.72 in and 0.36 in thick)
(see Figure 3) accommodate a broad range
of tubing link sizes.
Figure 3 SMALL AND LARGE CASSETTES
(1) Select Cassettes
NOTE: These Pump Heads are designed to work with the Model 72-557-000 and 72-557-100 Cassettes. Do not use
Model 72-560-000 or 72-560-100 Cassettes, which are designed for different Pump Heads.
Up to four large or eight small tubing Cassettes can be teamed up with the Pump Head at 0 psig.
The small Cassette is designed for Microbore tubing links used with either the three or the four roller Pump Head.
The large Cassette is designed for size 13 through 18 MANOSTAT precision tubing links with either the three- or the
four-roller Pump Head. Do not use Microbore tubing in the large Cassette.
Use only MANOSTAT precision tubing links with CARTER CASSETTE pumps to ensure optimum performance.
Use of other tubing may void applicable warranties.
(2) Load Cassettes
Easy, snap-in mounting and quick-release removal come with a Cassette system—no tools required. Since the
Cassettes function uniformly in either direction, Cassette orientation is not important. However, you may wish to alternate
Cassettes so that the Adjustment Knob on each is easier to turn when several small Cassettes are mounted close
together.
WARNING:
Turn drive off before removing or installing Cassettes. Safety guards are provided to minimize
risk of fingers getting caught between the roller mechanism and the base of the module.
However, be safe—Keep your fingers away from these areas.
CAUTION:
Large Cassette 72-557-100 should not be used with Microbore tubing links—may result in
premature tubing failure .
With the drive stopped, follow this procedure to install Cassettes.
1. Turn the Occlusion Adjustment Knob (see Figure 4) counterclockwise to maximum open. This step is not necessary when
the occlusion is set at the factory setting or if the occlusion has already been set appropriately during previous pumping.
2. On the Large Cassette, push the two Tubing Retainer Buttons in and up to accept tubing link. (Tubing retainers are
not adjustable on the Small Cassette.) (Note: The Tubing Retainer located on the Adjustment Knob side of the
Cassette is a loose component on the Large Cassette and may fall out. To reassemble, put the Tubing Retainer
back in place while pressing in the Retainer Button.)
3. Select tubing link (see Figure 5) and place in Cassette (see Figure 6A).
