To tension the saw chain

WARNING: A slack saw chain may jump off
and cause serious injury or death.
The more you use a saw chain the longer it becomes. It
is therefore important to adjust the saw chain regularly
to take up the slack.
Do a check of the chain tension every time you refuel.
Tension the saw chain as tightly as possible, but not so
tight that you cannot pull it round freely by hand.
Note: A new saw chain has a running-in period during
which you should do a check of the tension more
frequently.

1. Undo the bar nuts that hold the clutch cover/chain
brake. Use the combination spanner.
2. Raise the tip of the bar and stretch the saw chain by
tightening the chain tensioning screw. Use the
combination spanner. Tighten the saw chain until it
does not sag from the underside of the bar.
3. Tighten the bar nuts using the combination spanner
and lift the tip of the bar at the same time.
4. Make sure that you can pull the saw chain round
freely by hand and that it does not sag from the
underside of the bar.
The position of the chain tensioning screw on our
chainsaws varies from model to model. See instructions
