For your safety

Strictly follow the instructions for use
Any use of the apparatus requires full understanding and strict observation
of these instructions. The apparatus may only be used for the purposes
specified here.
Maintenance
Only original Dräger parts may be used for maintenance. We recommend
that a service contract be signed with your local DrägerService.
Liability for proper function or damage
Liability for the proper function of the apparatus is irrevocably transferred
to the owner or operator to the extent that it has been serviced or repaired
by personnel not employed or authorized by DrägerService or if it has
been used in a manner not conforming to its intended use. Dräger cannot
be held responsible for damage caused by non-compliance with the
recommendations given above. The warranty and liability provisions of the
terms of sale and delivery of Dräger are likewise not modified by the
recommendations given above.

The Instructions for Use refer to compressed air line breathing
apparatus with hood for minor use with the following type
identification markings:
Suleika II / R 27 944 and Suleika II / R 54 620.
Legible from the outside: Suleika II on the hood, R 27 944 on the fine
ompressed air filter, R 54 620 on the pressure reducer, pr EN 1835
c
Class II 1996 and CE mark on the head harness.

Description / intended use

The compressed air line breathing apparatus Suleika II is designed for use
in paint shops, in the chemical industry and on farms. It has been tested
and certified in accordance with pr EN 1835 Class II. The respiratory
organs, head and neck are protected against pollutants. The breathable air
required for operation of the apparatus can be drawn from either a
compressed air system or a compressed air cylinder. Only breathable air
according to EN 12 021 should be used. The apparatus can only be used
at temperatures <0 °C without danger if measures are taken to ensure that
the compressed air also meets the requirements of EN 12 021 with regard
to the water concentration (<50 ml/m
Maximum length of the compressed air supply hose: 10 metres.

Suleika II is an open facepiece which can be "breathed over", i.e. adequate
protection can no longer be guaranteed if the air supply deteriorates or
fails completely. It must therefore not be used in the presence of
carcinogenic, highly toxic or radioactive substances, microorganisms
(viruses, bacteria, fungi and their spores) and enzymes, nor if there is a
shortage of oxygen in the ambient air.
Use of the apparatus
Adjust head harness: Put on the
head harness, press button on rear
of head and turn to adjust the width.
The height can also be adjusted if
necessary: remove the head harness
and adjust the tab.
At low temperatures:
Coat interior of hood visor with "klar-
pilot" gel to prevent it misting over.
Note the corresponding Instructions
for Use.
Insert head harness in hood:
Detach the silencer from the
connecting hose. Guide connecting
hose through collar, into hood and
out again through the opening at the
back. Gradually draw connecting
hose out, guiding the head harness
through the collar and into the hood
at the same time. Secure hood to
velcro strip on harness. Reattach the
connecting hose to the silencer.
When using an outer hood:
Guide connecting hose through and
then pull on outer hood. Secure with
buttons above and below the visor.
Put on waist belt:
Open buckle, adjust width and insert
free end through belt loop.
Ensure that belt is correctly secured
in connector so that it cannot slip.
Put on belt so that arrow points
towards body and close the buckle.
Start up the compressed air supply:
From a compressed air mains 6 to 8 bar via fine compressed air filter
R 27 944 or from a compressed air cylinder 50 litres/200 bar via pressure
reducer R 54 620 set to 6 (marked) to 8 bar. Note the Instructions for Use
of the pressure reducer.
A pressure relief valve must be installed in the compressed air supply system.
Remove cap and connect demand valve to compressed air supply hose.
Press both halves of the coupling together until they engage.
Note for your own safety:
Pull on the hoses to check that the connection is secure.
Connect hose to silencer socket.
Check operating pressure on pressure gauge. The values specified under
"Technical data" for the air output must be maintained. If a second unit
(e.g. paint spray gun) also draws air from the same compressed air supply
hose, the actual values must not drop below those specified even when
the second unit is operating at maximum capacity. The same also applies
for the entire air supply system.
Put on hood: Stretch rubber band in collar and pull hood over head until
harness rests on head. Adjust hood and arrange collar. Adjust width of
head harness if necessary: press button from the outside and turn it.
Check length of connecting hose. It must be shortened accordingly when
used by short users.
The compressed air line breathing apparatus is now ready for use.
