OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL PART 2 THE USER
SHOULD KEEP THIS DOCUMENT
1. INTRODUCTION
This instruction manual is split into two booklets: PART 1, con-
taining
general information regarding our whole product range; and
PART 2, containing information specifi c to the motor-driven
pump you have purchased. The two publications are comple-
mentary to each other, so make sure you have both. Comply
with the instructions contained in them to get the most out of
GB
your motor-driven pump and assure its proper operation. If you
need further information, get in touch with your nearest author-
ized dealer.
If information in the two parts contradict each other, take PART
2 containing the product's specifi c information as valid.
NO PART OF THESE ILLUSTRATIONS AND/OR TEXT MAY BE
REPRODUCED FOR ANY REASON.
The following symbols have been used in the compilation of this
instruction booklet.

3. DESCRIPTION AND USE OF MOTOR-DRIVEN PUMP
3.1. DESCRIPTION
Description:
SUBMERSIBLE MOTOR-DRIVEN PUMPS
Model:
SF6
SUBMERSIBLE PUMP TO BE CONNECTED TO A 4" NEMA
REGULATION PUMP FOR POWER UP TO 5.5 KW., AND TO A 6"
NEMA REGULATION PUMP FOR MORE POWERFUL PUMPS.
3.2. USE FOR WHICH PUMPS ARE DESIGNED
The submersible SF6 pumps, fi tted with a suitable nema norm
motor, can be used for the movement of water from tanks and
wells with a minimum diameter of 6":
- for water erogation plants for civil and industrial use
- for pressurization plants
- for fi re-fi ghting plants
- for fountains
- for irrigation, both in agriculture and in sports facilities.
3.3. USE FOR WHICH PUMPS ARE NOT DESIGNED
The pumps cannot be used for pumping water with material
suspended in it, or water with corrosive chemical substances or
physical substances in it.
4
The motor-driven pumps must never be made to work without
liquid.
4. SPECIFICATIONS
The pumps are designed to be connected to nema 4" motors
for powers up to 5.5 kw and 6" motors for more powerful ones.
The nonreturn valve is incorporated in the pump delivery outlet.
All the manufacturing characteristics are of larger dimensions
than necessary for using the pump in problematic situations
(but always within the limits indicated in the present manual).

5. CONNECTION OF SUBMERSIBLE PUMP
Check that the shafts (both of the pump and the motor) can
rotate freely. It is then necessary to set up the motor by plac-
ing it in a vertical position, with the shaft projection pointing
up, and removing (in the case of the 4" motor) the nuts and
the washers from the stud bolts. Loosen the screw for fi xing
the earth cable: but in any case, follow scrupulously all the in-
structions of the motor manufacturer. Remove the pump cable
cover, by acting on the fi xing springs, and place it on one side.
Lower the pump onto the motor, taking care to make the motor
cable correspond to the spider louver of the pump to which it is
being coupled. Sometimes the operation is not successful the
fi rst time because the hub of the motor shaft is notched and it
is necessary to line up the notching with that of the pump cou-
pling. To do this, rotate the two parts, taking care to avoid any
knocks which could damage the motor bearings. It is important
to complete the operation totally, so that the motor spider goes
into the counterboring: the alignment between the motor and
the pump must be perfect. Apply the nuts with their respective
washers to the stays (4" motors) or the bolts with their washer
