To avoid overheating, the flow rate delivered by the pump
must always be greater than 10% of the flow rate of the
point of maximum efficiency. TAB.1 provides the minimum
flow rate required for each size of the EVMS family of
pumps. The values indicated guarantee compliance with
the temperature class.

TAB. 1. Minimum flow rate required
FIGURE 4 shows the assembly diagram of the flow meter
(Mp) which must be mounted on the outlet so that it blocks
the pump (P) when the flow falls below the minimum flow rate
required. In this case, the release of the electrical contact
(C) must bring the pump to a safe condition, removing
the electrical power supply. Furthermore, in accordance
with the ATEX regulations, the power supply must not
restart automatically, but a manual verification and reset
intervention are required.
If it is not possible to guarantee the minimum flow
rate required, it is recommended to use a bypass or a
recirculation branch.
6.8 DAMAGE DUE TO NON- CHEMICAL
COMPATIBILITY BETWEEN FLUID AND
COMPONENTS
Check the chemical compatibility between the fluid and
the constituent parts of the pump.
6.9 CAVITATION
It is important to always check the correct sizing of the
pump (therefore it is essential to check the value required
by the pump from the NPSH curves; the curves can be
found in the general product catalogues).
6.10 FLUIDS AT TEMPERATURE
It is the responsibility of the user or
installer to ensure that the temperature
of the pumped fluid does not exceed the
maximum required values. The control
devices used must comply with the EN
80079-37 standard.
TAB.2 shows the temperature classes in relation to the
maximum surface temperatures as defined by the EN
80079-36 standard.

TAB.2: Classification of the maximum surface temperature
for devices in group II G (in accordance with the EN
80079-36 standard)
The temperature class of the pump mainly depends on the
temperature of the fluid being processed. TAB. 3 indicates
the maximum temperature permitted by the fluid according
to the temperature class (these values are permitted
respecting the conditions expressed in section 3.3 NOTES).
It is important, to ensure the maximum temperature of the
fluid, to fit a reading device. If the limit value expressed
by TAB. 3 is exceeded, a trip device must shut down the
pump. The temperature measuring instrument must be
ATEX-certified with ATEX marking consistent with that of
the pump, while the control unit that guarantees intervention
in case of exceeding the limits must be FAILURE SAFE.

TAB. 3. Maximum fluid temperature according to the
temperature class
* The maximum temperature depends on the materials used
for the construction of the pump and in particular on the
type of mechanical seal chosen. This data is reported in the
technical documentation available at www.ebaraeurope.com.

7. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR

To avoid sparks due to electrostatic
discharges, do not use dry cloths to clean the
appliance.
For the maintenance and repair prescriptions, it is
necessary to follow the indications provided in paragraph
12. "MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR" of the instruction
manual for use and maintenance of the EVMS product,
supplied together with this manual. A further prescription
refers to the pump cleaning operations which must never
be performed with dry cloths. Wiping with dry and non-
damp cloths such as pure polyamide or cotton fabrics can
cause electric shocks.
Some pump models have the bearing on the coupling. The
bearings are maintenance-free; at a temperature of 40°C
the service hours are 10,000.
The pump does not require routine maintenance other than
cleaning and periodic checks for noise, vibrations or other
conditions that indicate wear of the components.
