Bus operation
In bus operation, fingerprints are
scanned and deleted using the pro
gramming interface PRI 602..., pro
gramming software PRS 602... and
an IBM compatible PC. Operation
and the procedures for this are
described in the programming
instructions for the EC 602...
13 Draw the finger correctly over
the sensor
To allow the FPM to recognize a fin
gerprint, the relevant finger must be
swiped across the sensor.
• Ensure when reading in the fin
gerprint, that the speed, position
and light contact pressure remain as
constant as possible.
• The readin process must have
started within 10 seconds after
activation, as otherwise the FPM
switches back to the operating
mode.
• If the readin process is interrupted
for more than 15 seconds, the FPM
switches back automatically to the
operating mode. (Time out)
Note
In individual cases, it can happen
that a fingerprint cannot be scanned
due to absence of biometric char
acteristics. In this case, try using a
different finger.
This applies primarily to children
and older people. In these cases it
is possible that a fingerprint is not
recognized.
Master mode
Scan in the master fingerprint
Conditions:
• The master mode is set (switch
position 1).
• The device is initialized.
• The LED lights up in red (asdeliv
ered status).
Note
The fingerprint which you read
in first in the master mode is the
master fingerprint.
Procedure
• Draw the master fingerprint over
the sensor.
The green LED flashes for appr.
3 seconds, after which the red LED
lights up.
• Draw the master fingerprint over
the sensor again.
The green LED flashes appr. 3 sec
onds, then the red LED lights up.
• Draw the master fingerprint over
the sensor a third time.
The green LED flashes for appr.
3 seconds, after which the green
LED lights up continuously.
The master fingerprint has now been
scanned in and is valid.
It is now possible to read in user
fingerprints.
Note
If a finger has been drawn over
the sensor and not recognized, the
red LED flashes for 3 seconds, after
which the red LED lights up continu
ously.
Repeat the scanningin process.
Scan in an user fingerprint
Conditions:
• The master fingerprint has been
read in.
• The LED lights up in green (oper
ating mode).
Procedure
• Draw the master fingerprint once
over the sensor.
The green LED flashes for appr.
3 seconds, then the red LED lights
up.
• Draw the user fingerprint over the
sensor.
The green LED flashes for appr.
3 seconds, then the red LED lights
up.
• Draw the user fingerprint over the
sensor again.
The green LED flashes for appr.
3 seconds, then the red LED lights
up.
• Draw the user fingerprint a third
time over the sensor.
The green LED flashes for appr.
3 seconds, then stays alight.
Note
If a finger has been drawn over
the sensor and not recognized, the
red LED flashes for 3 seconds, after
which the red LED lights up continu
ously.
Repeat the scanningin process.
Check:
• Draw the user fingerprint once
over the sensor.
The green LED flashes and the relay
picks up.
