OT Rope
Instruction Manual
LiftSentry Load measuring system
A) Rope LiftSentry: system composition and general application hints
System is composed by as many OT transducers as the ropes on the lift, in order to perform good
measurements.
OT Transducers have to be installed so that they are at the same height (on average),
with reference to lift's roof, lift's base or rope fixation points.
Install OT transducer so to avoid any contact with other OT transducers or parts of the lift, like pulleys or
hoist.
Verify that all the used OT transducers have the
same pins type (deflection pins [C]), corresponding
to the used rope diameter and required measuring
range. Install transducer near the rope fixation point.
Lift's roof
When ropes are very near each other it is possible to
install OT transducer as shown so that, during normal
use of the lift, they do not touch each other if ropes
vibrate.
Once installed the OT transducers on the ropes, use the lift for some runs and then perform the TARE
measurement.
Perform calibration of the installed Liftsentry load measuring system when lift's car is at the lowest
floor of the hoistway.

Lift's roof
This picture shows the condition when ropes are
far away, so that OT transducers can be installed
at the same height without any possibility that
they may touch each other during normal lift's
travel.

B) How to install OT transducer on lift's ropes
1) Security pin [F] has to be removed. Open the handle [A] so to
be in position to install the OT transducer on the rope [G].
2) Keep the OT transducer parallel to the rope [G], with the output
cable [B] directed toward the 699 electronics.
3) Insert rope [G] in the transducer, from the open side. Wrong
deflection pins [C] lead to error on measurements, inability to
insert the rope on the OT transducer and higher effort in
closing the handle.
4) OT transducer is correctly applied when rope [G] axis
correspond to the centre of the groove [H] of the deflection pin
[C] (if rope is misaligned more force will be needed to close
the handle [A] toward transducer's aluminium frame and
measurement will be wrong, with the possibility to damage the
OT transducer).
5) Press the handle [A] toward transducer's metal body, until it
reaches its fixing point.
6) Verify that the retention tooth [D]
reaches
its
stop
position.
7) Hole [E] for the security pin [F] must be free and visible.
8) Install the security pin [F] so that the handle cannot move from
its working position.
9) Once installed the OT transducers, it is mandatory to travel
with the lift for some floors, possibly with load on lift's car.
Jump on lift's floor so that mechanical connection of OT
transducer's on lift's ropes stabilize and any friction
toward guides is zeroed. After this, use calibration procedure
(AUTO or MANU) with lift's car at the lowest floor.
