j. The lower guard should be retracted manually only for special cuts
such as 'plunge cuts' and 'compound cuts.' Raise the lower guard by
the retracting handle and as soon as the blade enters the material,
the lower guard must be released. For all other sawing, the lower
guard should operate automatically.
k. Ensure that the lower guard is covering the blade before placing
the saw down. An unprotected, coasting blade will cause the saw to
'propel backwards', cutting whatever is in its path. Be aware of the
time it takes for the blade to stop after the switch is released. Do not
use abrasive wheels, doing so will void the warranty.

LASER LIGHT SAFETY

The laser system used in this tool does not normally present an optical
hazard, however it is important to follow the safety rules below:
• Do not switch on the laser light until the tool is ready to cut
• Do not direct the laser light towards yourself or other persons
• Do not point the laser at reflective sheet material as the surface
could direct the beam back at the operator or other persons in
the vicinity
• Changes to or replacement of the laser light assembly should only
be carried out by the manufacturer or an authorised agent
• Maintain the laser in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions
CAUTION: Failure to follow safety rules may result in flash blindness
and/or hazardous radiation exposure
