Installation Instructions
Please Read Before Installing
24 – 36 V- 250 mA maximum
Typical Power Consumption: 5 W
P/N 043475 Rev. A
09/2016
Use these instructions to install the model numbers listed above.
Installation
WARNING: Shock hazard. May result in serious injury or death. To avoid the risk of
electric shock, locate and remove fuse(s) or lock circuit breaker(s) in the OFF position
for all circuits entering the panel before proceeding.
1. Install processor: The processor can be installed in an LV14 enclosure, LV21 enclosure,
PNL-8 panel, or PDx-36 or PDx-64 control panels. Refer to Figure 1 and the configuration
software for mounting configurations. The processor is attached to the enclosure using two
mounting screws provided.
2. Connect power: The processor is powered from the QSPS-DH-1-75 power supply.
Connect the processor to the power supply as shown in Figure 2. Refer to the configuration
software to determine link power requirements. If using the wire harness included with
QSPS-DH-1-75-H, cap off unused wires.
3. Turn power ON: Restore the supply breaker to the ON position. If applicable, turn the input
power switch ON (refer to Figure 1).
4. Verify operation: Confirm that the unit is powered by referring to the PWR LED on the front of
the unit. Further diagnostic information can be obtained from the additional diagnostic LEDs on
the unit. Please refer to Figure 3 for explanation of the diagnostic LEDs.
5. Connect Ethernet Link: The Ethernet link on the processor is used for communicating to
the configuration software, integrating with third party components, and connecting multiple
processors together. Processors may be connected by using either standard networking (see
Figure 4a) or by using ad-hoc networking (see Figure 4b). All processors on a project must
be connected to a single network. The configuration software and all integration equipment
must be connected to the same network as the processors.
a. To use standard networking, run a single Ethernet cable (CAT5 or better) from an existing
network switch or router to one processor in each processor panel. From this processor
you may connect the other processor in the panel using the second Ethernet jack on the
processor (see Figure 4a). HQP6-1 can only go in the last location of a daisy chain.
b. To create an ad-hoc network, daisy chain up to 5 processors with a maximum of one
HQP6-1 (using CAT5 or better cable). HQP6-1 can only go in the last location of a
daisy chain. Make use of both Ethernet jacks on each processor (see Figure 4b). To
connect the configuration software, plug the computer into the HQP6-1 port at the end of
the processor chain. Note: When connecting to integration equipment, this configuration
will not work; please use standard networking.
The type of cable used (straight-through or crossover) does not matter when connecting
processors. To confirm physical connectivity, refer to the lights on the Ethernet jacks. The
ORANGE LED (ACT) will flash when Ethernet signals are being transmitted or received.
6. Connect communication links: The processor has one configurable RS-485 link (L1) for
communicating with system devices. Refer to the configuration software and other device
installation instructions for details on link types and wiring information. For links configured
as Power Panel Link or H48, LT1A link terminators must be installed across terminals 3 and
4 at both ends of the daisy chain when the distance between any module/interface and the
processor is greater than 50 ft (15.2 m).
