Preparation
We recommend you read through these instructions entirely before starting your installation in
order to help you understand all the steps and options pertaining to your particular installation.
This unit has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other) as a safety feature. This plug will fit in a
polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does
not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use with an extension cord unless plug can be fully
inserted. Do NOT attempt to defeat this feature.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE UV
RADIATION, OR INJURY TO PERSONS:
1. Turn off/unplug and allow to cool before replacing the bulb (lamp).
2. Bulb (lamp) gets HOT quickly! Only contact switch/plug when turning on.
3. Do not touch hot lens, guard, or enclosure.
4. Do not remain in light if skin feels warm.
5. Do not look directly at lighted bulb (lamp).
6. Keep away from materials that may burn, or melt.
7. For 3-light models, use with a 12V/20-watt, G4 base bulb or smaller.
For 5-light models, use with a 12V/10-watt, G4 base bulb or smaller. Do NOT use a 120V lamp. Do not
touch the bulb (lamp) at any time.
8. Use a soft cloth. Oil from skin may damage the bulb (lamp).
9. Do not operate the unit with a missing or damaged bezel, lamp containment barrier, or UV filter.
10. Use only insulated staples or plastic ties to secure the cords.
11. Route and secure the cords so that they will not be pinched or damaged when cabinet is pushed
to the wall.
12. Do not use an extension cord. Use power strip with integral overcurrent protection to supply
other electrical devices or accessories in cabinet.
13. Keep cord or combustibles such as plastic, paper goods, and the like away from hot lamp,
lampholder, or reflector. 12 in. minimum recommended.
14. Position halogen/xenon light with respect to cabinet so as to permit reading of the lamp
replacement markings during re-lamping.
15. Not intended for illumination of aquariums.
16. Not intended for installation in plastic cabinets.
17. Not intended for recessed installation in ceilings, soffits or cabinets.
18. Do not conceal line voltage power supply cord inside a wall, ceiling, soffit, kitchen cabinet,
or similar permanent structure.
19. The low voltage portable light may be surface mounted, or recess mounted in a kitchen
cabinet or other built-in furniture when:
A. The low voltage power supply (transformer) is located outside the cabinet and not
concealed.
B. The line voltage power supply cord is not concealed or run through cabinet openings. This
requirement does not apply to the wiring between the cabinet light and the power unit.
20. Do not run line voltage power supply cord through holes in walls, ceilings, or floors.
21. Do NOT attempt to install while plugged in.
22. For INDOOR USE ONLY.
23. Do NOT mount the xenon/halogen lights to cabinets having a material thickness less than 1/4 in.
24. Do NOT mount over sinks or stoves.
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF BURNS OR EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE UV LIGHT, DO NOT
OPERATE YOUR FIXTURE WITHOUT THE GLASS LENSES IN PLACE.
The low voltage portable xenon/halogen light may be installed inside or under a kitchen cabinet, or
other built-in furniture when: 1) The low voltage Class 2 power supply is located outside the cabinet
and is not concealed; and 2) The line voltage (120V) power supply cord is not concealed or run
through openings in the cabinet, walls, ceilings, or floors. This requirement does not apply to the
wiring between the cabinet light and the power unit.
The National Electrical Code (NEC) does not permit cords to be concealed where damage to
insulation may go unnoticed. To prevent fire danger, do not run cord behind walls, ceilings, soffits,
or cabinets where it may be inaccessible for examination. Cords should be visually examined
periodically and immediately replaced when any damage is noted.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS IN A LOCATION CLOSE TO YOUR CABINET SO YOU CAN REFER TO THEM AT A
LATER TIME.
DO NOT ATTACH ANY OF THE POWER SUPPLY CONNECTORS TO THE WIRE LEADS ON THE HALOGEN
LIGHTS UNTIL INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE.
Installing the transformer within 12 in. of a radio, TV, or other RF device, may cause audio
interference.
