BR 17 0-1 DRG
In der Baureihe 17 hat die Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesell-
schaft nach 1924 alle Schnellzug-Lokomotiven mit der
Achsfolge 2'C verschiedener Länderbahnen zusammen-
gefasst.
Die bekannte und formschöne preußische S 10 und die
weiterentwickelten S 10.1 und S 10.2 stellten weitaus den
größten Anteil dieser Lokomotiven. Im nunmehr schwarz
/ roten Farbkleid und mit Windleitblechen waren sie
zunächst noch wie zuvor im hochwertigen Schnellzug-
Dienst eingesetzt.
In den 30er-Jahren mussten sie jedoch zunehmend
moderneren Maschinen weichen. Vor Eil- und Perso-
nenzügen waren die einst stolzen Renner immer seltener
im Plandienst, bis Kriegsende waren viele bereits
ausgemustert.
Wenige Loks der BR 17 kamen noch zur DB, in der DDR
waren sie noch bis 1960 häufiger zu sehen.

After 1924 the German State Railroad Company brought
all express locomotives with a 4-6-0 wheel arrangement
from different provincial railroads into the class 17. The
well known and beautiful Prussian S 10 and further
developments of it, the S 10.1 and S 10.2, represented by
far the largest number of these locomotives. From that
time on they were painted black and red and had smoke
deflectors; at first they were used in quality express train
service as before.
In the 30s they had to make way increasingly for more
modern locomotives. The once proud racers were used
less and less in scheduled service at the front of fast and
standard passenger trains; by the end of the war many
had already been retired. Few of the class 17 locomotives
came to the DB; in the GDR they were still to be seen in
large numbers up to 1960.
