Switch panel P8F
Introduction
Each separate group on the Vetus switch panel type P8F is protect-
ed. Both push-in fuses and automatic fuses (thermal protectors or
circuit breakers) can be used. A range of push-in fuses is supplied
with the panel but automatic circuit breakers must be purchased
separately. Each separate group may be loaded to a maximum cur-
rent of 15 A.!!! All 8 groups together should have a maximum
load of 60 A.
The LEDs (light emitting diodes) show which group is operating.
The function labels are fitted with background lighting that can be
switched off. The panel is suitable for both 1 Volt and 4 Volt electri-
cal installations.
Overloading
If a particular group is overloaded the equipment connected to that
group will be switched off and the LED will go out. The particular
group can be switched on again as follows.
Set the switch to OFF (O)and solve the overloading problem. Take
off the cap covering the fuses, see diagram 1, replace the push-
in fuse with one of the same value or reset the automatic circuit
breaker. Put the cover with the function labels back on and switch
back to ON (|).
Installation
Fit the panel in such a position that the user can easily operate the
switches and both the LEDs and the function labels can be seen
clearly. The panel is splash proof, class IP64, provided that the cover
is fitted properly over the fuse holder. Cut a hole in the instrument
panel or a bulkhead using the template provided, see diagram .
Take off the cover to the fuses and the front plate. Fit the switch
panel using the 6 screws supplied. Use hand tools to prevent
overtightening the screws! Refit the front plate.
Large currents through too thin wires or contact resistances
caused by poor connections can result in wires or connections
becoming very hot and could cause a fire.
Always connect both plus terminals (BAT + INPUT 12/24V) to a
battery and use insulated (5 mm) eye-bolt connectors. Use wire with
a sufficiently large cross section, at least 4 mm
A, in the connection between the battery and the switch panel, see
diagram 3.
Connect the minus terminal (- GND) directly to the battery or a cen-
tral earth strip. Do not use the minus terminal on the switch panel
to connect the minus terminals of connected equipment. Use an
insulated (6.3 mm) flat push on cable connector and wire with cross
section at least 0.5 mm
Connect equipment (lights, pumps etc.) to be operated through the
switch panel using connecting wire with sufficiently large cross sec-
tion, at least .5 mm
or pin plugs.
