Power Switches
With your UPS plugged in, press the MASTER Switch to turn the
UPS ON and supply AC power to your connected equipment.
Once the UPS has been turned on with the Master Switch, the
other front panel switches can be used to control power to
individual outlets; see Receptacles for particulars.
When a Switch has been turned ON, the LED above it lights up.
Self-Test/Alarm Silence Switch
Use this switch to do three things:
Silence the blackout alarm
Press this switch momentarily and release to silence the series of
beeps that sounds when AC power fails. Note: When the UPS battery
is nearly depleted, the alarm resumes (and cannot be silenced) to
alert you to shut down connected equipment immediately.
Test your UPS's battery charge
Leave your connected equipment ON. With your UPS plugged in
and turned ON, press this switch momentarily; hold it there for
2 seconds and release it. The UPS will momentarily switch to
battery to test its charge. If the UPS does not provide power to
connected equipement, the UPS may be overloaded: add up the
total wattage of the load plugged into battery/surge protected
outlets, compare the total to your UPS's watt Output Capacity
(see Specifications), and if the load exceeds the Capacity, reduce
the load by unplugging equipment from battery/surge protected
outlets. If the UPS is not overloaded but the load is not supported,
or if the UPS alarm sounds, let your UPS charge its batteries for
12 hours and repeat the test. If the problem persists, contact
Tripp Lite for service. CAUTION: Do not unplug your UPS to test
its batteries. This will remove safe electrical grounding and may
introduce a damaging surge into your network connections.
"Cold start" your UPS
To use your UPS as a stand-alone power source when utility power
is not present, first press the Master switch to turn your UPS ON.
Then press and hold the Self-Test/Alarm Silence switch momen-
tarily and release it to have your UPS provide battery backup
power at the receptacles.
Indicator Lights
All Indicator Light descriptions apply when the UPS is plugged into a wall outlet and
the MASTER switch is turned ON.
This green light will turn ON whenever your UPS is plugged in and
receiving normal AC line power.
This red light will turn ON when your UPS is providing your
equipment with battery power.
