tool can not be used anymore. Be aware
that the counter mechanism is driven by
the program controller. Each full turn,
will be registered as a cleave, even when
this is done without fiber - e.g. demo
purpose.
• Make sure that the network element and
the tool are securely positioned in order to
avoid installation problems or fiber
breakage. Correct positioning can be
ensured by attaching the network
element and the RCAT to the mounting
bracket.
• Never cleave a fiber when the front fiber-
clamp is in the open position and never
clamp a 900 μ semi-tight coated fiber in
the front fiberclamp. This could result in
the damage of the cleave-diamond-
blade.
• Insert and clamp a 900μ fiber with an
extreme memory effect by following the
rounded shape of the fiber holder (7).
This procedure facilitates fiber insert of
the cleaved fiber in the splice.
• Respect the minimum and
maximum fiber stripping lengths.
Too long stripped fiber can disable
the RCAT (see 7.3.1).

7 Installation instruction

7.1 Installation of tool
7.1.1 The RCAT can be mounted on a
tripod or any fixture by using the mounting
plate.
7.1.2 To have access to the splice holder
and fiber insert, hinge the handle (17). Turn
the program controller, counterclockwise,
from locked to start S position.
