How to put ARGUS into operation
How to put ARGUS into operation
Figure ?:
1 Connect the supply voltage
The consumer is switched on for approx. 10 s or for the time set.
The functional display lights up for approx. 10 s.
Using operating elements:
All settings, such as sensitivity and switching time, can be adjusted using
the ARGUS operating elements: these are located underneath the cover
plate, which protects them. To open:
1 Push up the cover plate until you feel it hit the stop (approx. 5 mm)
and pull it off.
ARGUS displays and operating elements:
Figure >:
A Functional display: lights up whenever movement is detected
B Brightness sensor: must not be covered
C Setting the brightness threshold
D Setting the switching duration
E Setting the sensitivity range
F Radio operation: To connect radio transmitters (see the operating
instructions for the radio module, art. no. 565495)
Setting ARGUS for the function test:
1 Set the brightness threshold (Figure >C) to daytime operation (sun
symbol/centre).
2 Switching duration (Figure >D) to 1 s (left stop).
Aligning ARGUS:
1 Figure *: Align the sensor button with the area to be monitored
(change the direction of rotation when you have turned it as far as the
stop).
How to put ARGUS into operation
2 Step from the edge of the detection area into it (Figure §) to check
Setting the sensitivity range:
Here (Figure >E) you can set the distance up to which ARGUS detects
movements (you can set this at any point up to max. 16 m).
1 Set the sensitivity range (Figure ;):
Set the brightness threshold:
Here (Figure >C) you can infinitely adjust the ambient brightness level
at which movements should be detected and a switching procedure
should be triggered.
1 Set the brightness threshold (Figure :):
– Centre (sun symbol): Day and night operation (approx. 1000 lux), all
– Left or right stop (moon symbol): Night operation (approx. 3 lux),
Setting the switching duration:
Here (Figure >D) you can infinitely set how long the loads connected
to ARGUS remain switched on for. When ARGUS detects a movement,
the load (e.g. ceiling light) is switched on and stays switched on until the
set period has elapsed. Every time a new movement is detected, the
switching duration is restarted.
1 Set the switching duration (Figure _):
– Left stop: switching duration approx. 1 s
– Right stop: switching duration approx. 8 min

whether the ARGUS switches the load and the functional display as
required.
movements in the area of detection will be detected, independent of
the external brightness.
movements are only detected in the dark (see the section "How to
set the timer function and the twilight threshold").
