Please read these instructions carefully and keep for future use. When
forwarding this unit to third parties, this information for use is also to
be handed over.
Thank you for choosing the sera KOI Professional 24000 Pond Filter.
Please check whether all components of this high quality system, which in-
cludes glass parts, have arrived at your place without damages before we
continue by presenting you the installation and the functions of this novel
pond fi lter system. You will fi nd further information about this in the war-
ranty conditions.
General notes
The sera KOI Professional 24000 Pond Filter is a multi-step purifi cation
system designed according to newest current act fi lter technology fi nd-
ings. The system is divided into the following steps.
Step 1: (Not included in each set)
Highly effective, powerful UV-C system (2.1)
• Reliable removal of all kinds of fl oating algae (cloudy, green water)
• Reduction of thread algae and other algae
• Lasting removal of pathogens and bacterial water cloudiness
The UV-C system was specially designed for garden pond purposes and
consistently developed using newest technology.
The UV-C system is equipped with energy saving PL fl uorescent tubes op-
erated with an electronic ballast.
Due to using a PL fl uorescent tube (two T5 tubes connected side by side
in one unit), a performance of 55 Watts per UV-C unit at a device length of
only 600 mm (23.6 in.) is achieved, in case of equipping fully with two UV-C
units a performance of 110 Watts.

The sera pond UV-C System therefore meets highest function and effi ca-
cy requirements. The sera pond UV-C System 55 W is a separate unit that
can also be operated by itself with the sera pond pump PP 12000.
Please refer to the information for use of the sera pond UV-C System
55 W for further information.
Step 2: Mechanical water purifi cation – sludge removal
The split sieve removes all particles larger than 0.2 mm. The algae de-
stroyed by the UV-C radiation form conglomerates larger than 0.2 mm and
can be trapped by the split sieve. You can easily remove them through the
waste water removal valve (fi g. 4) of the sludge chamber. The biological re-
mainder obtained this way is a very good garden fertilizer thus taken back
into the biological cycle.
Step 3: Oxygen enrichment (2.3)
The water falls through the generously sized pond fi lter body underneath
the split sieve where it is enriched with oxygen by swirling. This allows con-
verting all substances that were not removed mechanically under aerobic
conditions within the following biological breakdown step.
Step 4: Fine mesh algae fi ltration (2.6)
The sera fi ne mesh fi lter sponges can be placed underneath the split sieve.
This will keep the pond clear and attractive even in times of strong growth
of fl oating algae. However, this measure should only be taken for a limited
time, mainly during summer. The kit includes two fi lter sponges.
Step 5: Biological water purifi cation
The water is evenly distributed by a Matala mat above the biofi lter cham-
ber after dirt and algae have been removed, and fl ows onto the sera
siporax pond fi lter medium below.
Due to its chemical and physical material properties, the high performance
biofi lter medium sera siporax pond provides an ideal living environment
for the valuable pollutant removing bio cultures. The open pore structure
ensures ideal water current conditions for the micro organisms, thus ensur-
ing the biofi lms are optimally supplied and pores do not get clogged even
after years of operation. sera siporax pond biologically cleans itself! At the
same time, sera siporax pond is very resistant against wear and tear and
thus allows operation times of several years.
The biological performance capacity is outstanding: A single liter (one US
quart) of sera siporax pond has the same breakdown performance as ap-
prox. 34 liters (9 US gal.) of clay material. In other words: It provides enor-
mously high breakdown performance with very little space requirements.
Also, it requires very little maintenance and will last for a long time!
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Attention electrical shock! All electrical units must be disconnected
from the mains/power supply before conducting work at the sera KOI
Professional 24000 Pond Filter, the UV-C lamp, the pond pump as well
as all other work in and around the pond.
Attention UV radiation! Do not look into the eye damaging light of the
UV-C lamp. Switch off the lamp before cleaning or maintenance.
The sets with the item nos. 08650, 08651 and 08653 can be equipped with
further accessories. It is possible to connect each two sera pond UV-C
Systems 55 W and two pond pumps to the pond fi lter canister.
This device may be used only according to this information for use.
