3. The plug shell is labeled to specify the series maximum amperage
(E0400/400 amp), male or female, and color. The color matches the color on
the access cover of the corresponding contact on the Posi-Lok panel. Also,
the color of the rubber insulator to which the shell is attached matches the
color on the corresponding panel position.
G. Polarizing Shell Assembly:
1. Assembly.
A Posi-Lok polarizing shell is assembled to an insulator and contact which is
already attached to cable. Make sure that the shell is the right sex, and
polarity (panel position) for the cable.
The shell is attached by slipping the ribbed and tapered end of the shell over the
connection end of the plug assembly. The mate arrow on the insulator must ~e
lined up with the white. Line on the shell. Push the insulator into the shell until it
will not go any farther. The front end of the rubber insulator should be within 1/16
of the end of the polarizing shell. If rubber insulator exceeds tolerance, it should
be replaced with a new style insulator. Consult factory.
2. The insulator is held in place by inserting the two half-round sections provided
into the polarizing shell behind the insulator. Inspection of the two pieces will
show that each has a notch cut out of the inside to allow it to clear the raised
rectangular section on. the rear portion of the rubber insulator. The mating
edges of the half-round pieces must also line up with the white line on the
polarizing shell and, when inserted, must be pushed in until the shoulder
touches the back of the shell. Now the self-tapping screws can be attached
through the sides of the shell and into the half-round pieces to hold them in
place.
NOTE: Very Important. Lastly, lubricate the mating portion of the rubber
insulator and polarizing shell with silicone lubricant (Cam-Lok part
number A101208).
