• Attach the threaded tap connector to your tap and
connect the feeder hose to it.
OPERATING THE SAFETY LOCK
FIG.11
The safety lock has 2 functions:
• 1. To stop the hose being pulled out when fully re-
wound
• 2. To stop accidental rewind when the product is in
use.
• To operate the safety lock turn the lever on the
outside of the reel.
Do not operate the safety lock while the reel is turning.
USING THE REEL SAFELY
• 1. To unwind the hose, disengage the safety lock,
take hold of the hose and walk away from the reel.
• 2. The reel has an automatic ratchet to hold the
hose in place at the required length. You will hear 5
ratchet 'clicks' everytime the internal drum rotates.
When the hose is at the required length, stop and
slowly pull the hose until you hear one of the 5 clicks.
The hose is now held. At this point you can engage
the safety lock if required.
• 3. If you need more hose, disengage the lock if
necessary, take hold of the hose and walk away from
the reel, repeating the automatic latching procedure.
• 4. The automatic ratchet is released by pulling the
hose away from the reel past the 5 ratchet clicks.
The hose must be walked back to the reel. If the
hose does not completely rewind, pull out some
hose and walk back again.
Warning
DO NOT:
Let go of the hose while rewinding.
Let go of the hose unless the automatic ratchet
mechanism is engaged.
Attempt to remove any screws from any part of the
casing.
DO:
Remove the reel from the wall in winter to prevent
frost damage.
Ensure the ground below the reel is kept as dry as
possible to minimise the risk of slipping.
Turn the tap off when not in use.
Safety
To prevent damage being caused to your Auto
Reel over the winter months it is advisable that
the excess water be dispelled from the hosepipe.
This can be done by completing the following steps:
1. Disconnect the feeder hose from the tap
2. Place the end of the feeder hose on the ground
3. Pull out all of the hose ensuring the hose end
connection is 'closed' and then completely
retract it
4. Excess water will dispel from the feeder hose
5. Repeat step 3 several times
By dispelling the excess water from your Auto Reel,
it will not only become lighter to transport inside
during winter, but will reduce the risk of water
freezing inside the reel.
