5. PUTTING INTO OPERATION

5.1. NEVER USE OIL OR GREASE especially with elements to be used with oxygen:

5.2. Before starting and during operation, read and observe carefully these instructions. In
case of need, contact NIPPON GASES. Careful attention to these instructions will help
to avoid risks and loss of production as well as enhance reliability and durability of
pressure control equipment.
5.3. These instructions must be kept permanently at hand in your workshop
5.4. Check that the cylinder valve connection is clean and undamaged; check that inlet
washer (9) of regulator (on H, D & N versions) is in good condition and in correct position.
Otherwise, clean & change washer if needed.
It is necessary to control if the regulator is compatible with the gas with which it will be
used (See 3. Marking of features, point 5)
5.5. Connect the regulator gas tight by means of the sleeve nut (2) to the cylinder valve (1),
using spanner without excessive strength. The regulating screw (5) must show
downward.
5.6. Connect hose to the outlet nipple (7) and to the downstream equipment. Use hoses
corresponding to EN 3821 and hose connections to EN 560. Secure by appropriate hose
clamps.
5.7. Close the shut off valve (6) & valves of downstream equipment. Do not stand in front of
the cylinder valve and SLOWLY open the cylinder valve (1). The HP gauge (3) will show the
gas contained in the cylinder. Adjust the required working pressure at the outlet gauge
(4) or the flow at the flowmeter (4b) by closing the regulating screw (5). Open a little bit
the shut off valve (6) and the valve of downstream equipment. Drop of pressure may be
compensated by actioning the regulating screw.
5.8. For flowmeter version, follow instructions from 4.1 to 4.6 & connect the hose for
shielding gas to flowmeter outlet. Adjustment of shielding gas is done by means of valve
(6) to obtain a flow in l/min. To stop operation for short periods, close shut off valve (6).
For prolonged interruption: close cylinder valve (1).
