*2016 and newer models require removal of lower air dam and trimming of splash guard (figure 4)
2016 models
1.
Remove lower air dam by removing 11 fasteners with 10mm socket and return to owner.
2.
Remove tow loop (if present) by removing the M12 bolts with a 17mm socket.
3.
Pull back inner splash guard by temporarily removing the fasteners holding it to the bumper fascia, to allow access for bolting the hitch side bracket in place.
4.
Trim the lower portion of the splash guard as needed to allow for hitch side bracket, figure 4.
All models
1.
Remove 2 M12 bolts, one from each end of the front bumper beam, remove end caps and return to customer. For ease of access to the inside of the vehicle frame, remove skid shield (if
present) by removing 4 M8 bolts. Remove plastic covers from inside and outside of frame rails both sides at bolt locations.
2.
Place the 4.00" bolt into the spacer (Item 4) and into the existing holes from the inside of the frame.
3.
Where the end cap was removed in step 1, place the 1.50" carriage bolt and spacer (item 2) into the existing hole in the bumper beam.
4.
Hang the side brackets from the 4.00" bolts installed in step 2 on the outside of the frame rails and place a conical washer(teeth side toward hitch) and hex nut on the bolt finger tight.
5.
Raise the center section of the hitch into position between the side brackets and loosely attach using the 1.25" carriage bolts and lock washers and hex nuts as shown.
6.
Attach the straps on the center section to the 1.50" carriage bolts that were installed in step 3.
7.
First tighten center section to side plates, then tighten the strap to the bumper beam, then tighten the side plates to the frame.
Tighten all 1/2" fasteners with torque wrench to 75Lb.-Ft. (102N*M)
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
8.
Reinstall the skid shield that was removed in step 1.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or
ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
