1.
Support the front bumper during this operation. Loosen four 12mm hex nuts, two on each side, holding the bolt brackets onto
the frame as shown in Figure 1. Remove the bottom nuts completely and back out bolt brackets without completely removing
them.
2.
Place spacers (1) over lower bolts on bolt brackets on each side of the frame and raise the hitch into position as show in
Figure 1. In the case where the vehicle does not have tow loops, use the optional spacers (2) as shown in Figure 2.
3.
Fasten the existing 12mm hex nuts that were removed in Step 1 onto the lower bolts on the bolt brackets. Tighten 12mm hex
nuts snugly while ensuring that the hitch side brackets are touching the bottom of the frame.
4.
Using the hitch as a template, drill four 1/2" holes in the underside of the frame.
5.
Drill two 1-1/4" access holes on the inside of each frame.
6.
Use a pull wire (7) to feed a spacer (4) and carriage bolt (3) into each of the four drilled holes as shown in Figure 3.
7.
Fasten the carriage bolts in place with conical washers (5) and hex nuts (6). Tighten all nuts with a torque wrench.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to
prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working
beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
