Setting up the warp to weave beads:
Take the spool of thread and cut the number of threads that you need.
Note: There's always one thread more than the number of beads in terms of width.
The length of the threads depends on what you're making. These threads must be the same
length and measure at least 50cm. Form groups of threads (the number of threads will be
determined by your design) and tie them together with a double knot.
Secure each knot between
the combs
and the
warp loom
and place your threads correctly on
the weaving loom (see the diagram below). Then stretch the threads as tightly as possible us-
ing the combs, and then place the slides on the loom.
Weaving:
Pour a few beads into the wells.
Cut a piece of thread (minimum 60cm) The necessary length will depend on the size of your
pattern. Attach the end of the thread to the end of your first warp thread.
Starting with the first row, string the beads onto the needle in order of the colours on your
pattern.
Place the needle under the threads and secure each bead between two threads. While holding
the beads between your thumb and index finger, pull the needle and thread with your other
hand.
WARNING: be careful that you don't prick your fingers!
Continue to hold the beads with your fingers and go back in the other direction, but this time
threading the needle above the warp and through the hole of each bead. Each bead is then held
between two warp threads.
Your first row is now finished! Start again with the second row...until you've finished your pat-
tern.
