1. Lower muffler – Lower the muffler by removing (3) rubber isolator hangers from the hanger rods. (Be sure to support exhaust to
prevent damage) Spraying a lubricant or soapy water on the metal hanger rod and the rubber isolator eases removal.
2. Remove underbody panels – Using a flat screw driver, remove push pin rivets located at the lower edge of the fascia. Using a 10mm
socket remove plastic nut located at the upper portion of the underbody panel, remove underbody panel. Repeat for other side.
3. Trim driverside underbody panel – Using a utility knife or other suitable cutting tool trim the driverside underbody panel as shown in
Figure 1, be sure to leave the forwardmost bolt hole on the upper portion for re-attachment.
4. Trim fascia - Using a tape measure, marker, and utility knife, cut a notch in the lower part of the fascia approximately 2-1/2" wide x 3"
deep, centered on vehicle as shown. See Figure 2. NOTE: There is rigid plastic on the inside of the fascia trim area that will be difficult
to cut, a hacksaw or other suitable tool may be needed for this area.
5. Install hitch - Raise hitch over the exhaust and into position aligning holes in hitch with existing weldnuts in vehicle frame rail. NOTE:
Make sure that vehicle weldnuts are free from rust and debris. Install the M10 bolts and conical washers (Teeth side toward hitch) with
16mm socket, (2) per side. See Figure 3.
6. Tighten all M10 CL10.9 bolts with torque wrench to 42 Lb.-Ft. (57 N*M)
7. Re-attach exhaust and Underbody panels - Re-attach the exhaust onto the three hangers removed in step 1. Reinstall the underbody
panels using the original hardware removed in step 2.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced.
Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
