CU-3IR
Order No. 38.4060
Controller for 12 V or 24 V LEDs
GB
Please read these operating instructions carefully
prior to operation and keep them for later refer-
ence.
1 Applications
The controller CU-3IR is used to control LEDs or
LED chains requiring an operating voltage
between 12 V
and 24 V . The maximum total
power consumption of all LEDs connected must
not exceed 10 A. From the product range of "img
Stage Line", for example, the following items can
be operated with the controller:
LEDL-9/RGB
LEDM-3/RGB
LEDS-5/RGB
LEDS-5MP/RGB
LEDS-5WP/RGB
2 Important Notes
The unit corresponds to all required directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect
G
it against dripping water and splash water, high
air humidity, and heat (admissible ambient tem-
perature range 0 – 40 °C).
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never
G
use chemicals or water.
No guarantee claims for the unit and no liability
G
for any resulting personal damage or material
damage will be accepted if the unit is used for
other purposes than originally intended, if it is
not correctly connected or operated, if it is over-
loaded or not repaired in an expert way.
If the unit is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harmful
to the environment.
3 Mounting and Connection
1) Fasten the controller via screws at a suitable
place, if required. Make sure that the infrared
sensor IR (2) will always be visible when the
remote control is used.
2) Connect the LEDs to the terminals OUTPUT
(1). The total load by the LEDs must not
exceed 10 A; otherwise the controller will be
damaged.
R = negative pole for the red LEDs
G = negative pole for the green LEDs
B = negative pole for the blue LEDs
+ = common positive pole

3) For power supply, a regulated power supply
unit will be required. Adjust the power supply
unit to the voltage required for the LEDs con-
nected (12 V
supply unit must be able to deliver the current
required for operating the LEDs plus a supply
current of 100 mA for the CU-3IR. Connect the
power supply unit to the contacts INPUT (3).

Operation
4.1 Remote control
When pressing a button, always direct the remote
control towards the sensor IR (2). There must be
no obstacles between the remote control and the
sensor.
If the range of the remote control decreases,
replace the battery. For this purpose, push the
lock on the rear side to the right while removing
the battery support downwards at the same time.
.
Insert the battery (lithium button cell of type CR
2032) into the support with the positive pole show-
ing upwards, then reinsert the support into the
remote control until it engages.
If the remote control is not used for a longer
period, remove the battery to prevent damage to
the remote control due to battery leakage.
Dead batteries must not be placed in the
household waste. To protect the envi-
ronment, always take them to a special
waste disposal, e. g. collection container
at your retailer.
4.2 Selecting a control programme
Select the desired programme with the buttons

4.3 Brightness, speed, pause
1) Adjust the brightness of the LEDs connected
with the button BRT (8). Nine brightness levels
are available.
2) Adjust the execution speed of the control pro-
gramme selected with the buttons SPEED (7).
Nine speed levels are available.
3) With the button PAUSE (9), the control pro-
gramme can be paused and continued again.
If, for example, the LEDs are to light continu-
ously in a certain colour, press the button
PAUSE when the desired colour is shown dur-
ing the gradual change.
