INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
LC6, LCP
Make certain that all power is disconnected prior to installing the fixture. Make all necessary wiring
corrections, observing proper voltage and polarity. Ensure that wires are not being pinched.
Installation:
1.
The LC6 and LCP rough-in housings can be installed in either wood joist or suspended
ceilings.
Wood Joist Installation: Extend the bar hangers to fit between the joist. Using the built in
leveler, align the fixture up with the bottom of the wood joist. Using a hammer, secure the
housing to the wood joist with the built in step nail. (See Figure 1)
Suspended Ceiling Installation: Locate the four (4) T-bar slots near the end of the bar
hanger. Bend tabs out, slip the hanger bar over the T-bar and press the tabs back against
the T-bar to hold it in place (See Figure 2).
2.
Make certain all power is disconnected prior to installing the fixture. Open the snap-on junction
box captive door and remove the appropriate pry-out with screwdriver. Built in Romex clamps are
accessible through the Romex pry-outs. Bring supply wires into box by shielded cable or Romex
cable. MC cable is approved for use when used with a UL approved grounding bushing. Thread
grounding bushing onto the MC cable fitting inside the plastic junction box. Route the MC cable
ground wire through the ground lug on the bushing and terminate to the fixture ground.
3
Make all connections inside the junction box. Connect 120V hot wire to the black wire.
Connect the neutral wire to the white wire. Connect the ground wire to the bare copper wire.
This fixture should be wired in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes and
ordinances.
4.
Close the snap-on junction box door.
5.
This unit can be installed in a TYPE IC or TYPE NON-IC installation:
TYPE IC: Where the rough-in section is in direct contact with insulation. Match trims listed on IC
portion of the fixture label for IC installations. Remove the peel off label on top of the housing
stating not to install insulation within 3 inches (76mm) of any side of the fixture (See Figure 3)
TYPE NON-IC: Where no insulation is placed over the top or within 3 inches (76mm) of the sides
of the rough-in section. Match trims listed on the NON-IC portion of the fixture label for NON-IC
installations.
6.
This product is Air Tight and conforms to maximum air leak rate of less than 2.0 CFM as tested per
ASTM E-283 method. Product must be sealed to ceiling surface to eliminate all air paths into space above. The gap between the drywall
edge and the edge of the recessed fixture must be sealed by the installer using drywall compound (not provided) or silicone caulking (not
provided) rated for a minimum of 90 degree C to seal the gap.
CANADIAN REQUIREMENT ONLY FOR LC6 and LCP: After connections are completed, remove 2 screws located
inside j-box door and install 1 screw on each door (See Figure 4).
TRIM INSTALLATION:
SEE TRIM INSTRUCTION SHEET FOR DETAILS
LAMP INSTALLATION:
Prior to installing lamp (not included) in the fixture, check to make sure that all power is disconnected. Ensure
that the lamp source and wattage corresponds with the fixture label and the trim label. To properly seat the
lamp into the fixture, screw the lamp securely into the socket. Back the lamp out one to two turns, and then screw the lamp back into the
socket, making sure that it is secure.
Follow lamp manufacturer's instructions regarding lamp operation and re-lamping. Operating a fixture with a lamp that turns on and off, an
extinguished lamp or no lamp at all may cause damage to the components and will void all warranties.
