4. Install support brackets – remove the foam tape from the side of the frame
and the plug from the access holes on the bottom of the vehicle frame. If
needed, remove the caulking from the frame. Insert the coiled end of the
pullwire into the mounting hole and out the access hole. Insert the wire through
the block (item 5) and attach the 7/16 bolt (item 1), see figure 2. Pull the wire
and align the bolt with the mounting hole. Raise the support bracket into
position and attach the bracket using (3) M10x1.25x40mm bolts (item 3) and (3)
conical tooth washers (item 2). Repeat the process for the bracket on the other
side of the vehicle.
6. Torque all 7/16-14 Gr5 fasteners to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*m), all 1/2-13 Gr5
fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*m), and all 10mm CL10.9 fasteners to 42 Lb.-Ft.
(57 N*m).
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
