Adjustment
For temperature adjustment, see figs.[4] and [5].
Carry out adjustment:
• Before the mixer is put into service if the mixed water
temperature measured at the point of discharge varies
from the specified temperature set with the thermostat.
• After any maintenance operation on the thermoelement.
Open the shut-off valve and check the temperature of the
water with a thermometer, see fig. [4].
With the safety stop depressed, turn thermostat knob (U)
until the water temperature reaches 38 °C.
- Remove trim cap.
- Hold thermostat knob (U) in this position and unscrew
and remove screw (T).
- Pull off thermostat knob (U) and reinstall in such a way
that the 38°C mark on the knob coincides with the
mark (H) on the mixer body.
- Hold thermostat knob (U) and reinstall screw (T), see
fig. [5].
- Reinstall trim cap.
Temperature limitation
The safety stop limits the temperature range to 38 °C.
If a higher temperature is desired, the 38 °C limit can be
overridden by depressing the safety stop.
Adjusting the economy stop
For flow rate adjustment, see figs. [6] to [9].
• The flow rate is limited by a stop, adjusted by the
factory.
If a higher rate is desired, the stop can be overridden by
depressing the economy button (K), see fig. [6].
If the stop is required to be adjusted, proceed as follows:
1. Close shut-off valve.
2. Pull off cap (L) and unscrew and remove
screw (M), see fig. [6].
3. Remove shut-off knob (O), splined adapter (N) and
economy stop (P), see fig. [7].
4. Reinstall economy stop (P) in the desired position. For
adjustment range, see fig. [8].
5. Reinstall splined adapter (N) and shut-off
knob (O) with economy button (K) facing the front.
Reinstall screw (M) and cap (L), see fig. [9].
Prevention of frost damage
When the domestic water system is drained, thermostat
mixers must be drained separately, since non-return
valves are installed in the hot and cold water connections.
For this purpose, the mixer must be removed from the
wall.
Maintenance
For maintenance, see fold-out page II
Shut off hot and cold water supplies.
I. Non-return valve
1. With a 30mm open-ended spanner, unscrew and
remove mixer from unions.
2. Remove dirt strainer (V).
3. With a 12mm hexagon socket spanner, remove union
nipple (R) by turning clockwise (left-hand thread)
4. Remove non-return valve (W).
II. Thermoelement
1. Remove cap (S).
2. Unscrew and remove (T) and pull off thermostat
knob (U).
3. Unscrew and remove adjusting nut (A).
4. Pull off stop ring (B).
5. With a 24mm open-ended spanner, unscrew and
remove thermoelement (X).
III. Ceramic headpart
1. Pull off cap (L) and unscrew and remove screw (M).
2. Remove shut-off knob (O), splined adapter (N) and
economy stop (P).
3. With a 17mm open-ended spanner, unscrew and
remove ceramic headpart (Y).
Inspect and clean all parts, replace if necessary and
grease with special valve grease (ref. No. 18 012).
Replacement parts, see fold-out page II ( * = special
accessories).
Reassemble in the reverse order. Use only genuine
Grohe replacement parts.
Readjustment is necessary after every maintenance
operation on the thermoelement (see Adjustment).
