SETTING UP THE PRINTER
Printer Battery
If you will be using the printer for the first time, charge its battery for
16 hours before beginning your test session. Refer to the printer
manual for more information.
Printer Self-Test
A self-test confirms if the printer is operational and prints a report to
help you verify printer setup. The information includes the selected
communications protocol (IrDA or HPIR Mode).
To perform a self-test:
1.
When the printer is off, press and hold the MODE button for
approximately 2 seconds.
2.
Release the MODE button. The printer will print a self-test
report.
Changing communications protocols
The IR printer is configured at Midtronics to use the IrDA as its
default communications protocol.
To select IrDA or HPIR:
1.
When the printer is off, press and hold the MODE button until
the STATUS LED flashes five times.
2.
Press MODE once. After a short delay the LED will flash once
to confirm that you are about to change the communications
protocol.

To select IrDA, press MODE twice in quick succession.
After a short delay the LED will flash twice to confirm
your choice.

To select HPIR, press MODE three times in quick
succession. After a short delay the LED will flash three
times to confirm your choice.
The printer will then power on with the new setting.
