Applying Power

Applying Power

Once the wiring is complete, make certain that the
enclosure is clean of any wire clippings and that no
fragments are lodged in the relay circuit boards.
2.
Ensure that there are no loose wires or exposed wires
that could short.
3.
Power up the unit from the circuit breaker.
4.
Once power is applied to the unit, lighting loads may
be operated via the Standard Override Card ALL ON /
AUTO / ALL OFF switch as necessary.
5.
If the enclosure is a 32 size enclosure, make sure that
the upper back plate is in place. To mount the upper
back plate, ensure that the 1/4 turn screws are all
vertically aligned before trying to put them in place.
Starting with the upper left corner, gently press the
1/4 turn screw into its mounting hole. Press all 1/4
turn screws in place in a clockwise method. Once all
screws are in place, press down on each screw in turn
and gently turn the 1/4 turn screw to the right until
the screw head is horizontally aligned. This will lock it
in place. Turning the screw further than 1/4 turn may
result in it breaking.
Manually Controlling Relays
The relays in the enclosure may be controlled before the
logic board is in place using the Standard Override Card.
The Standard Override Card (SOC) is at the bottom of
the enclosure. It acts as a master override to the system.
The SOC contains a three position rocker switch: ALL
OFF , AUTO, ALL ON. By moving the rocker switch to the
right, the Green LED will be lit and the relay coils will be
energized. By moving the rocker switch to the left, the Red
LED will be lit and the relay coils will be de-energized. The
middle, AUTO, position allows the relays to be controlled
by the individual relay switches or from the logic controller.
Please note, that for some relay card types, (Latching Relay
Card, Two Pole Relay Card), if the logic board is not in the
enclosure, it may take up to 30 seconds before the relays
respond to an SOC switch actuation.

Low Voltage Wiring Notes
Low voltage wiring may vary depending on logic board type
installed in the lighting control enclosure. Please refer to the
installation instructions included with your logic panel for
more in-depth information on wiring low voltage wiring.
Low Voltage Dry Contact Switch Wiring
This section describes the wiring for dry contact closure
devices. Please review your installation instructions for your
logic boards for more specific information.
1.
All low voltage wiring is Class 2 wiring.
2.
All low voltage wiring must enter the cabinet from the
lower-left side of the enclosure or be piped through
the high voltage section in conduit using the special
knockouts reserved for this section.
3.
All low voltage wiring must be run in separate conduit
from line-voltage wiring.
4.
Use 18 AWG twisted, unshielded wire for all low
voltage dry contact closure device wiring.
5.
Maximum length for dry contact closure device wiring
is 1000 feet.
6.
Test all low voltage wiring for shorts to AC ground
before connection to the logic panel.
GDS Switch Wiring
Each LiteKeeper® unit is capable of supporting the
Greengate Digital Switch (GDS) station. The GDS do not
wire directly to the LiteKeeper® logic board, but are wired
using a CAN Bus network that connects to the LiteKeeper®
through a gateway called the GDS-I. GDS stations are wired
using the Eaton's Cooper LCCP or LCCNP cable, or Belden
1502P or 1502R equivallents.
See the LiteKeeper® logic board installation instructions
for further details on the connection. All connections to the
LiteKeeper® from these devices should be made through
the low voltage section of the controller.
For best network performance, one of the suggested
cables should be used. If the specified cable is not
used and communications problems occur that require
troubleshooting assistance, additional charges for support
may be assessed.
UL 924 Compliance
With the addition of the Relay Interface Module
Accessory, the lighting control system has been approved
in compliance with UL 924. If using the Relay Interface
Module, it will be necessary to wire the transformer to
an emergency power source. Please refer to the Relay
Interface Module's installation instructions for further
details.
