VI. USING THE HANDPIECE
The handpiece is supplied unlubricated and non-sterile.
Before first using it, the handpiece must be lubricated and
sterilized (see "Hygiene and maintenance" paragraph).

Before use, check that the handpiece is not damaged
or that no part of it is missing.
5.1. Connecting to the motor

WARNING : the handpiece should be connected to
the motor only when the motor is stationary.
Lock the handpiece to the motor coupling. To do so, keep the
motor and the contra angle on the same axis.
For certain motors, it is necessary to operate the side button
to allow connection.
Pull the handpiece slightly before use in order to check that it
is securely connected to the motor coupling.

Operating test > Operate the motor
Do not start rotating the handpieces:
• If there is no rotary tool inserted.
• Or if the ring is not in the locked position (CLOSE).

NOTE : If you notice heating, irregularities, vibrations
or abnormal sounds during the operation of the
handpiece, immediately contact your approved
technical department.
5.2. Disconnecting from the motor
WARNING : The handpiece should only be disconnected
when the motor has stopped.
Remove the handpiece whilst keeping it in the motor axis.
For certain motors, it is necessary to operate the side button
to disconnect the handpiece.
NOTE : In the event of prolonged non-use of the
handpiece, do not leave it connected to the motor
so as to avoid oil leakage into the motor. The motor
could be damaged.
5.3. Connecting / disconnecting the rotary instrument
It is preferable to wear protective gloves for all tool

handling. Cut risk.
Check the condition of the rotary instruments used
and handle them cautiously and carefully.
It is essential that the motor is stopped when

inserting or extracting the instrument.
Do not use worn instruments.
Inserting and locking the rotary instrument:
• Turn the dark middle ring the "open" setting.
• Insert the rotary instrument into the handpiece's head.
• The depth of the instrument may vary. At least 12mm of the
rotary instrument must be inserted.
• Turn the dark middle ring to the "close" setting.
Check that the rotary instrument is correctly held.

• Check that the rotary instrument is correctly held
with a slight axial movement each time the tool is
changed.
Removing the rotary instrument:
• Turn the dark middle ring to the "open" setting.
• Withdraw the tool (rotary instrument).
